A damp morning with 2 foot of SSE swell on a 6 second period barely causing a ripple for our corner of the world. The light southerly wind at 5-15knots zephering over us barely ruffling the swimming caps.
The surfboat crew struggled to find a wave to ride in.
The crew were all a little damp.
The water was a little colder and after the nor easter warnings from the 6:30 crew about the presence of a Jimble armada offshore prompted a cal for a Tourist Trail approach around the rocks.
The small group today were more than happy to oblige.
The visibility wasnt great but when you are swimming inches from the rocks everything is clear.
There was detail I hadnt seen up this close before.
We could even see Brad racing to the Shelly end to get ready for his tag team return.
A couple of close calls with wayward rocks not normally in the way
Quite clear in close
A little too shallow in parts
My fellow blogging crew quick to notice the photo opp.
Almost single file
John explaining he has just seen the largest Wobby ever just off the beach
Elaine spent some time looking for him but this tail hanging out of the undergrowth was a smaller friend
As the fluffy green straits of home come into view there is a log jam on the point.
Confirmation of the details
And Milly champing at the bit to get out there goggles in hand.
And a sneak peak from Anne Edwards of a swimathon around Heron island where over 30 of the 100 there had swum with the B&B at some time.
The swell looks like its small for the rest of the week and hopefully tomorrow the Jimbles will have moved North for the Summer. Have a great week.
Cheers
Brian

This mornings boulder dash was interesting.. Roller waves coming from South .. Getting bigger as we headed north.. Water was full of salps! Haven’t seen them in years or rather felt them..
All but me and Pete Anthony were in wetsuits.. Some wetsuit AND flippers .. Despite this I had a clear lead on them all.. Kerry J pretending to be struggling / hit by a jimble when she sneakily broke off to the left and pelted ahead of the group / of course Lips and I spotted this and pulled her up ..
The Trip back was a full south rolling wave smacking us in the left ear till about the Corso when it settled down again / on top of that a bit of a head wind…Great swim other than that.

Agree Bubbles. Cunning Kerry almost tricked us with her fake jimble injuries.
