Today it finally hit 16.8 degrees, first time all winter it’s dropped below 17 degrees. Considering that drop in temperature and that I hadn’t swum for two weeks, it wasn’t too bad. Seas were relatively calm and clear, and the taste of vitamin sea was refreshing, invigorating and gave me a push in the right direction to start the weekend with.
Some photos of swimmers entering the water:
Jo was cold after her early swim that starts in the dark, brave lady amongst the early crew.
Some of the 7 o clock starters waiting to get going:
Chris in the below photo is a newbie, with Tara:
Ian was in a huddle having a meeting with the wows:
Attempt at selfie below with Sheena and Suzannah:
Everyone has a smile on their face once they realise they’re in for some fun and splashes early in the morning, getting their dose of vitamin sea!
Sid and Nicky are about to embark on a sailing adventure together, no more swimming with us for a while as of next Wednesday:
I got a photo of the sunrise amongst some gentle bumps of water at the point:
After my brief swim I noticed a man in front of me take a sharp right turn at the point heading towards Manly. I followed in case we were heading into a rip, but he had experienced some road rash on his face from the rocks. This is him under water:
Once on land I found a pregnant lady in wetsuit heading in with friends, Anne included who slept in thanks to heavy workload yesterday. She saw marine life, I didn’t. It’s always nice to see the pregnant ladies swimming, happy and healthy enjoying life and nature.
Napolean was rugged up with Ted and friends today, he’s always popular:
Dear little Kai with dad today after the swim:
stats: temp 16.8, newbies-3, attendance- 250.
Dinner for tuesday night is full unfortunately.
On Sunday 8th July at 8.50am, the channel 9 Today show would like to do a LIVE broadcast featuring the B&B from the normal starting spot. We will have a spokesperson (TBA) and would like at least 20 pink capers to do the swim at this later time. To encourage swimmers, the 8.50am swim will carry an official tick and can be logged (only one tick per day mind you), so if you fancy either waiting behind after the normal 7am swim or having a sleep in and swimming at 8.50am then you can do either or both. Enjoy the swim.
I”m signing off before the whole blog gets lots to cyberspace, have a nice weekend everyone:
Edwina.
