Sync or Swim?

07/11/20199

Sync or swim ? That is the question. Well, it was down at the beach today. It follows the title of a French film, “Sink or swim” about a group of middle aged men ( do we know any of them ??) joining a synchronised swim team…and the antics surrounding their new found passion.

So, I did a bit of ‘bnb’ journalistic probing and asked “ Given the opportunity would you join a synchronised swim team? Or would you just prefer to swim? Here’s what we said…and did!!

John said, he was swimmer through and through and said he was quite offended by this question. Here’s his offended face.

It took a few attempts to get this pic of his offended face, cause secretly I think he was secretly flattered!!

Mick and Neil, surf club groupies said it’s a terrific idea, as long as they didn’t have to do it. Fair call…besides we need a couple of lifesavers on hand when we attempt the big moves in the water!

These guys did this…their best syncro poses!

Anne and Paul were a definite “no” and ironically said that in sync!

Tom, Paul, Jack and Rosie answered…yes! Why not? They were concerned it would be tough dancing around in the water but they would definitely give it a go. And then all at once did a tree pose! I think they are half way there.

Izzy, flat out said “no way” she said it would be like swimming with heels on! (insert thinking emoji….you may have given me an idea for my next blog!!! )

A newbie Alex, all the way from the UK, said ‘Yes, I think it would be hilarious and probably disastrous”. That’s the spirit Alex…I think you could be correct. It’s nice to see he posed for this shot, a natural blog tart!

Bin assumed the position instantly.

And these guys and gals were ready to sign up…except Marco, he was happy to watch. Michael was extra keen to join the women’s team. ( insert eyeball roll emoji)

What is most interesting is that pretty much everything we do down at the swim requires some sort of synchronisation. Here’s Michael, syncing his cap, ears plugs and goggles.

A doggy and it’s owner so happily in sync.

The swimmers in sync as they head down to the water and elegantly jump together in a dance of the waves! We are all slaves to the rhythm as we swim to the point and beyond.

That rhythmic beauty was short lived as the ‘hilarious but disastrous’ synchronised swimming demos were in full flight. Looking more like water polo with a little under water argy bargy and more dunking than dancing. Where are Mick and Neil when you need them??

And I reckon Michelle has done this before.

Everyone did much better on the land…

Even Rainer did an elegant photo bomb…Nice one Lips.

And just as I suspected. John was busting out his syncro moves by the end of the swim. Nailed it JK.

And of course sipping the much beloved coffee and tea also in sync…well sort of!

Enjoy your day swimmers…

And now a message from our sponsers

The Monthly Dinner – 12th November 2019 – Guest Speaker

The Next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 12th Novemober at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our guest on the night will be Allan Sparkes CV, OAM, VA FRSN, who is one of only 5 Australians in the past 44 years to be awarded the Cross of Valour (CV), Australia’s highest bravery decoration. Allan will speak about “What is the rarely recognised element of courage and why is it so important today?” Is courage about overcoming fear? willingness to risk your all, an inner strength? perhaps it is about choice, leaving a place of safety to go to a place of danger? But how often do we consider courage is about the willingness to care. In his talk Al Sparkes will touch on the times he has had to be courageous to help others and the times he stopped caring about himself. And what he did to recover his life from the pits of hell.

Please book early for this event as it is sure to be popular. The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential. To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book at www.boldandbeautifulmanly.com.au/bb-bluewater-monthly-dinner.html .
