Today was my first day back at the swim in over a week and WOW there was a lot going on. Watching the sunrise as I walked from North Steyne to Manly beach always brings a smile to my dial.
Matt was the first person to greet me struggling to cuddle all three dogs at once, note another Swan supporter in the group:
One of the big events for today was the cake stall fundraising for Avner supporting pancreatic cancer. Quite a few people have been touched directly by this disease so it was hands on with lots of goodies baked and sold. Congratulations all you hearty sweet toothed swimmers: $900 raised with a bit more to come once all food sold. There’s a walk tomorrow and the foundation link below for donations, thank you to all who baked and Caroline, Elaine, Lisa, Megan and Roz who were managing the table.
Megan must have been shying away from camera, sorry I didn’t capture you too!
I walked around to Shelly with the dog walkers, the bay looked a little choppy without huge surf and there were plenty of people coming and going. Kids on boards, more dogs, snorkellers and swimmers, even pretty flowers caught my eye ๐
Napolean got a haircut:
These cute kids ย were pumped before the swim, happy to show Leanne the bower break and Teds triangle:
Something went wrong and they ditched the break, went to Shelly then opted to walk back with a pit stop no doubt:
Note to self: don’t call little girls “little lady”, it’s not the done thing. Use their name ๐
Happy Birthday to Dorset- he got to call the let’s go and get splashed- obliged with a photo call after the swim,
Then I heard Lyndall passed the 1000km mark, well done to another swimmer with a big milestone passed this week!
Here she is with husband Dave:
There’s always a bit of lounging around after a swim where we swap recipes to beat the cold ( thank you Gayle ) and catch up on the last weeks events and movies to watch:
Important stats:
320 swimmers!
temperature 18.3
7 newbies
been the weirdest winter yet!

Great blog Edwina and welcome back! Hope you’ll be swimming again soon. Thanks for featuring the cake stall for Research in to Pancreatic cancer so highly. Such a shame we can only post notices about charities on the blog 3 times now as not everyone reads every day. We raised over $900 for this amazing charity and there will be leftovers on sale tomorrow. The walk is only 5 kms and a few of us are doing it so please consider joining in. Thank you so much to all who baked, donated, or bought. A few old faithfuls like Pauline, Roz, Lisa, Gayle, Derek etc do all 3!

Great to see you back Edwina.
Why are Charities limited to three mentions ?
Its not like I am advertising Vicks Vapour Rub.
“Rub it on your chest for overnight relief”.
I have registered as a non-profit making business and can apply Vicks for you… $1,000 each for men, women free.
Any profits to charity, I make no money from this.
(another two mentions coming up …..unless this crazy rule is relaxed ?)
