Such a beautiful sight this morning…a seal lapping up the sunshine on the ledge behind the wall at Fairy Bower. He’s heard about amazing Cabbage Tree Bay and like us realises it can’t get any better than this! My photos are cropped by the way and the wall divided onlookers. We hope he’s not sick but the relevant people have been told about him so if he doesn’t leave I’m sure he’ll be checked out for a clean bill of health.
Heather and Jacqui check out the seal before their swim!
A beautiful start to the morning with 20 degree air temp, a few gentle waves and the bluebottles seemed to have disappeared. free yoga is every Tuesday and Thursday 6-7am.
Dave, Paula, Harvie and Michele go for an early dip. Great to see Harvie facing her fears and swimming across the bay. She grew up in Glasgow and couldn’t swim until a couple of years back. Anxiety attacks stopped her from doing the swim for a while but with lessons, support from friends and sheer bravery and grit she’s now a regular ocean swimmer!
These 3 amigos have a look at the seal before their swim, Donald, Sparkie and Ted
Kim and Sterling with Livvy and Jonno were looking for someone to mind their beautiful 4 month old puppy Bella, whilst they swam. I jumped at the chance!
Elky and Gina have been swimming since September. Their boyfriends are scared they won’t be able to keep up!
Lisa and her daughters off for a swim!
Belinda is back from her farm and the Wows are happy to have her back swimming. Here she is with Amanda and Di
Jesse and his mates. Jesse is ‘Catch of the Day’ today as he’s now ‘single and ready to mingle’!
Paula gets to have a cuddle with Bella
Some of the Mermaids with good photobomb behind!
Lyndell and Jocelyn. Jocelyn is joining our blogging team and is excited about writing her first blog tomorrow. Please remember it really encourages bloggers if you comment at the bottom of blog. It’s lovely hearing your comments about the swim!
Sterling’s son Jonno and Kim’s daughter Livvy with Bella
Now for some underwater shots from the past week when clearer!
The Octopus that is hidden in a ledge on a rock out from Halfway steps. A lot of swimmers have seen him recently. I’m happy to show swimmers where he lives if anyone would love to see him!
Lucky enough to get a head on shot with a cute Pufferfish on Sunday
This Moray Eel appeared out of the weed at the weekend too!
Gary the friendly Groper was out and about a lot at the weekend guarding his territory by the Bower surf break. He’s adorable!
On Saturday I thought I’d come across a very weird sea creature but on closer inspection it was Trevor the labrador!
Dorset’s Crayweed is doing well over by the shed. On closer inspection last week I realised a Banded wobbegong was hiding in it!
Have a great week! Keep swimming!

Fantastic blog Lainey, I love your pufferfish and shots of Gary getting up close and personal. Such an exciting swim with a detour enroute to see the big old seal, he’s adorable.

Nice blog thank you. In that last shot the rock looks like an eels mouth reaching up to the swimmers.
