Sat 13th: Red Faces & Blue Bottles

13/02/20169

Above: Clare’s front-of-tee …

CONDITIONS

Flat water.  Lovely sunrise.  Northbound swim offers crystal vis over the sands …

Today is RedFeb swim day …

——————

Management has the bluebottles issue down pat.  Capless Dave reports in at 6.15: “Clear to the ocean pool, but cordoned off by blueys from there to Shelly.  You WILL get hit.

PLAN OF ACTION

6.30 Drinks Express heads north along the beach.  And reports back.  Sevens to follow up the coast, once all is clear …

———

Liz will be towing a floatie.  “NO! It’s not a lifesaving device.   It’s so my friends can find me.”

——————–

I can’t believe Jean-Paul is under 25 …

————-

—————-

Red Cap Regatta …

———–

This photo – of Steve McQueen – is for Rainer; who may be in Thailand …?

——————-

Karel: “There are no bluebottles in pools …”

———————–

Millie has started walking …

——————-

The tightly-clustered Sevens set forth for the north …

—————

The Bluebottles still had their say.  Bruce copped it during the Six Kilometre Swim.  My reporter says it hit Midge, and she then deftly flicked it squarely into his face …

———————————–

Grown adults still keep toys on key-rings.  Example:

————————–

Guess whose mum got a Whirlpool …

——————————

So.  Whilst Rainer is overseas, we seem to have a new Contender for the title of ‘Lips’

I had a gorgeous swim to Queenscliff this morning with the equally gorgeous Hope. Here’s my mental musing as we were swimming….
    Hope, Hope
She could be the next Pope.
She could pull me on a rope.
Would she ever give up? Nope!
    Nice aim, Midgie!

Thankyou for the lovely blog Roger. Tim Slessor was the real hero today cutting short his long swim to help a badly stung person. What would the bold and beautiful be without people like that? Thank you too for all that supplied refreshments and company for long haul swimmers…you know who you are! Very much appreciated.

Forgetting about the blueys, it was one of the most enjoyable swims I have had. Felt like I was on a tropical island then it came back to me that this really is paradise.

Thank you to all the support crew (Melise, shelly and other wonderful people) as well as elisabeth for helping us wounded long haul swimmers. The blueys got most of us in the end.

That is spot on Inge. And BB is full of people like that.
I just don’t get blue bottles though – what do they want with us?

Thanks for putting me in the blog. The float marker was easy to see but a blue bottle got tangled in its strap and Gayle was kind enough to pull it off.

Hi All! My first attempt to the 6K swim today! It was awesome, until the last few minutes, coming out from the point where I got badly stung. I just want to say a Big Thank You All! For your support today, specially Elisabeth getting the ice bags for my wounded legs..
Other than that, it was the most beautiful swim I have had. The water was perfect and the crew amazing! Can’t wait to try once again another 6K! Cheers
