remember when? 13th December 2015

13/12/201511

A LOT has changed since I started swimming with BnB February 2011….so i thought of a short “remember when” segment to start the blog…

Remember when….

Lips wore speedos.. argh my eyes!!

Storchy was pale and hairy!

 Half way had a BEACH!!

Brad looked like this!*

*’before’ Lucy

Ian and John (“Management”) .. were just a couple of young trouble-maker lads!

And now to present day and the reason we all know each other..

The Swim..

Bit colder and grey today… but still magnificent!

Even puppy is cold!

Shaun (below) helping out today greeting newbies. He does a great job welcoming new people.. and a stickler for the rules…I overheard him telling one new person “you cannot tick if you don’t make it all the way to Shelly”… good one Shaun!

He is also known on the blog as DWSS…. check out his thoughtful intelligent comments…(below his photo are some of his best ones..)

Meet English John. Has swum 4 times since he started this week. He wears his Australia t-shirt and shorts so everyone will think he’s an Aussie.. he wants to blend in… 😉

Next to John is another newbie Caroline – today was her 2nd swim and on her very first one she struggled a bit near half way with ‘yellow shed notmovingness’ – ie, she didn’t seemed to moved past it no matter how long she swam (similar to North Steyne Surf Club notbloodymoving-ness on the bolderdash)….anyway she thought she was caught in a rip of sorts and a ‘lovely South African named Lucy’ came to her rescue and lent Caroline her flippers!

Millie is always so happy to see me…

Despite the ‘cold’ conditions lots of people turned up!

Even Lips graced us with HRH Presence…

Arriving at Shelly.. damn it always looks like this when i get there!!

“underwater A team shot”

Always fun to spot yourself on the blog…

Richard and Charl….although something feels very odd about the picture..?

It’s been a while since blogging….trying to figure out the camera..

 …here we go..

Nice smiles from Millie and Brad 😀

That’s all folks…

If you missed the video I made and showed at the Christmas party – here it is again!

B&B Notice Board

2016 Calendars

The 2016 B&B calendars are now on sale. Get your copy from Ian any day at the swim, or order online HERE. They make a great Christmas gift for family and friends, here or overseas. This year the calendars are even more impressive in a larger A3 format, all for the same cost as last year – just $15 each.

Parking

B&B members do not have permission to park in any car spot or bay that belongs to the surf club.  Please adhere to this rule.  There is plenty of parking in the Council car park at no charge to you.

Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

HAHAHAHA love it, Lesbutt!! How did you get that shot of Brad on our wedding day?! Caroline is lovely and smashed the swim today … and I hear Forster is a beautiful little town in South Africa!! Loved the reminiscing but wish that seedy, transparent rashie didn’t make it back onto the distinguished pages of the blog!! xx

On a serious note- if anyone lost an underwater watch today, there was one on the ground under the hooks when everyone had left.
It is safe – See me or message me.
