Well the Spring racing season is over for another year. It all cuminated with the race that stops Manly… the Spring Triple Crown. The results of three hard days of racing are in… and once again Scrappy Scotty stands aloft. Here he is with Irishman Alex and your humble correspondent. It all came down to the last day on Tuesday with any of the three in contention for a win… but ultimatley Scrappy Scotty best endured the choppy conditions and swam through Scotty’s passage on the high tide to take the cup. We will all return for the summer triple crown over Christmas Eve, Boxing Day and New Years Eve.
This morning just 60 swimmers enjoyed the beautiful 18.7 degree water. The tide was high, the conditions were flat and… well it was a cracker!
In the fashion stakes none of us quite know what to make of Rusty’s latest swimwear. Are they pajama pants? Some kind of European cossie? Warwick Cappers footy shorts? I’ll let you decide. All I know is I want a pair.
The brain’s trust was in this morning and I gotta say Big Rod is on fire in the swim at the moment. He lead the pack for the first third of the swim.
Meanwhile Dreamboat confidant Kelly Jones was in hiding from the assembled media who were trying to work out who is this tanned, toned, and dignified man on the foreign affairs ministers arm?
And Mercedes Steve basking in the buffness that is Drinksy.
Finally it was off to Manly Wine to discuss the days affairs and keep Mr Manly Wine (whoever that is) eating steak. ASIO seems to have put a well disguised agent into the group too.

Well-spotted – the camera never lies. There indeed is the ASIO agent bombing our pic and listening into our catch-up on B&B affairs for the week!
The agent will have also caught Michael with the WA highlights and Dr John on “why she had to have a Welsh accent to catch my heart”, not to forget Tim Gio, 1/32th (fake) Italian, with the latest from the gossip sections of the British press and the secrets of his parents’ happy marriage – one is a staunch lib and one a staunch labour supporter and life is never boring!
Great swim too!

I’m trying to pull off the 70’s-reject-porn-star look. And doing it pretty well I reckon. I have more options in my cupboard. Maybe i’ll bust them out at the weekend for you all.

I can’t believe you all had flat water this morning. I was in Manly at 7 pm, and the bay was being ripped to foaming smithereens. Bluebottles landing inside Bluewater’s toilet and waves rolling down the Corso. Children screaming. Things like that
