Happy New Years everyone! What a big year it has been… no doubt countless new BnB swimmers who have a whole new lease on life, lots of new friendships and I think just a general sense that this is a great way to live your life!
So a gazillion swimmers this morning enjoyed the warm, calm, clear waters. Unfortunately I am in that post Christmas period where I forgot what day it was until I got to the benches… oh Thursday… its my blog day! Anyhow, here is what we all enjoyed…
Such a buzz after a swim like that…
Alright… it was the decider of the Triple Crown this morning. So far James and Scotty had won a race but it all came down to the decider with a couple of us still in contention… The pace off the beach was very quick with newcomer John from Newport getting on to James and my feet. Scotty went out hard but too many long lunches got to him. Round the fancy yacht we went and it was going to come down to the rocks… James and I hit a low lying rock together about a hundred meters out from the point grounding us both. I stood up, ran and dived and it was all over from there… hanging on for my first Triple Crown win in 21 months! Winners now have been…
Summer 2013 – The Bishop
Easter 2014 – The Bishop
Winter 2014 – Scrappy Scotty
Spring 2014 – Scrappy Scotty
Summer 2014 – Brad
Easter 2015 – The Ghost
Winter 2015 – The Spaniard
Spring 2015 – James
Summer 2015 – The Bishop
OK, New Years resolutions time… what are yours? Leave them in the comments, particularly relating to the swim! Of the A-team, Irishman Alex and Newport John are still to win their first Triple Crown… what about you? More frequent swims? Winter without a wetsuit? Tricking Rainer? Kissing Zac Stenmark? Growing a longer beard than Derek? Getting free tickets to the Sydney Theatre Company out of Bruce? Getting engaged (Spaniard)?
Happy New Years everyone!

Sharing is caring; this morning when exiting the ocean to land around 7.40 am on my ski I pretty much had to dart in out and of the swimmers for what I believe to be a matter of urgency. The lifeguard pulled me up on it. Fair enough I thought.
Please be respectful of other people on craft using the shute, ramp and promenade, look behind you and make room. When thethe flags are up and in my case a 20 kilo ski sometimes it’s or only alternative.
Good on you for getting amongst another morning in paradise but please be aware of those around you.

Talking of sharing, this morning the LSC rowboat gave me a helpful shove towards the shore as I was tiring on my swim in. Thanks guys, it was very gentle and no harm done.

Well done Henrietta on your triple. Doubles are now the new singles and the triple is a thing.

Yes a perfect example, did you look around you, a surfboat cannot enter any other way.

I swam at 6.30 this am and when I rounded the point on return from Shelly the wall of 7am ers was overwhelming!! I had to swim wide to avoid them .. No wonder the 6.30 crew so fast they have to avoid all that every morning..
Maybe that’s my 2016 goal.. promote myself permanently to the Drinks express!

Unfortunately the majority of swimmers this time of year a one offs / bucket list tickers.. They are in a total dream state …they wouldn’t notice anything other than the big ocean b4 them…. Best to wAit till 7.05 to go up ramp… Unless you happy to knock a few of them out lol..

Nice calm and clear waters greeted us for our last swim for this year.
All the best for the New Year to all BnB swimmers.

Surfboat hits a tired 80 year old swimmer who is an inspirational champ for being out exercising and its suggested that HE should be more caring and sharing ?!? Apart from the occasional awestruck once-offers most people head straight up the ramp and disperse. I think its just a case of volume of traffic rather than being uncaring. Its only a short period in the day when our numbers cause traffic jams. Earlier, or all the rest of the day, the ramp is all yours 🙂

Really good blog Bishop. The first shot shows the lull after us ploughing across CBT and before the beach became packed on such a glorious day. NY resolutions? One of them is to drink less coffee !! Happy New Year all
