23/8/13 – Friday Wooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!

23/08/201345

It’s Friday again, people!

Not as chilly as the other days this week…. well, out of the water anyway 😉

Another beautiful clear morning …

Something for our overseas readers … The Corso at 6:30….

Everybody is out for a run…

This lucky council worker couldn’t believe the Village People were in Manly – putting on a show  – oh yeh – you can’t stop the music!

Jane getting ready for another awesome swim….

Yeh… the water has been a little cooler this week. It happens more when there’s an offshore wind and a NE swell for some reason…
Greg thinks that going in backwards feels warmer…

Jenny shows us what she learnt at clown school….

JK called “Let’s go” before they went down for one more underwater clown pic.. Good going – JK..

then they all had to catch up to the pack… Here’s Sue exploding out of the blocks…

Today’s expose.. is on the North End of Shelley gang… a rag tag band of misfits and adverturers..

They don’t need birthday songs, cuttlefish and boat ramps. They’re just here to swim point to point in the deep water, out where no one can bother them or remind them of their former lives and loves.. they nod to each other and laugh about the water temp… they are outsiders… living on the edge… of the beach….

There was nothing in the water today, except for a couple of whales which a few of us crazy people tried to swim out to but they didn’t hang around..
So here’s a collection of beasts we saw in the water this week….

This one is Rosemarie (definitely not a beast :))

Not bad eh? (the last one is just to see if Julie and Michael are watching)

Stats:

Swimmers: 111

Newbies: 5

Water: 15.9c – felt colder!

Sunrise: 6:24am – getting earlier!

Sunset: 5:30pm – getting later!

Have a great weekend everyone!

Love the photos – they really are totes-amazeballs
Especially the Port Jacksons. Whenever I see one, that Outkast song pops into my head …” sorry Miss. Jackson…ooooh…I am for real…”
    Every time.

I was a bit concerned when you and I saw that last image of the Dusky near Shelley but thanks for the reassurance that they are harmless!
Doesn’t the pretty little squid on the left of the last photo look a lot like Lesley…Just saying 😉

JS, your are so mean. In the unfortunate event, that is my goggles breaking, you highlight it even though I swam to Shelly without them,, you accuse me of not makng it!!
    I feel dirty now.

  • John.S

    23/08/2013 at 1:10 pm

I was trying more the Apache look and I’ve had some tribal markings installed on my back.
I thought Big Rick more the construction worker.
And Lesley, more like wide eyed, cute and innocent………… like a Gray mouse-lemur

Love the fish pics, Nick. My favourite is the one of the PJ with the yellow tail against the patterned sand. So poetic.

    Hi Ian
I certainly swam today and it appears that this has not been picked up by the system. I certainly need all the swims I can to maintain my progress on the Pacific Challenge!!!!!!
