What a simply stunning morning to kick of April. Can you believe that the water is warming up – 22.9 today!!

Well dear readers and swimmers, our not so little swim squad has caught the attention of some serious movers and shakers. Now if you are into day time TV, you may have seen or heard of a US series that shares our squad’s name. Well, the Bold & Beautiful has received a sternly worded letter pointing out that our name breaches the intellectual property rights of this series.
This development is giving the management a bit of a headache!

Having handed out in excess of 7000 pink caps prominently – how do we get them back? Or should we fight this silliness. After all, we swim, they act – kind of. Just because we have become popular with TV shows and other media, surely this does not mean that we operating in the same medium? Needless to say, there were many concerned swimmers today. Disbelief all round as we tried to cover up the offending words!!

Mind you, there is always someone ahead of the game!

Perhaps in today’s comments our collective creative team can come up with an alternative name for the squad? Or if you are a clever IP lawyer, please contact Ian.
And so with troubled souls we headed for the waves.

Played silly games at the point.

Then headed across the bay.

It was one of those days that make ocean swimming very comfy; very warm water, clear skies and water, and the waves were just little ripples.

What can a serious Lesley be contemplating???

Perhaps this perfect autumn morning.

Some of our fishy friends out and about today. . .

As Shakespeare wrote, ‘. . .a rose by any other name is still a rose.’ So, no matter what happens with our name, we are still the most amazing group of daily, ocean swimmers.

Have a great Tuesday.
Mary
Now if you have read this far and are still feeling outraged, can I recommend that you check today’s date.

This year we will be joined by the Royal Far West who will be assisting in fundraising for the event, and will receive part of the funds raised on the night. Some alternative names,
Bald & Beautiful -not too different, still has a ring to it
Bums & Bitches/Boobs/Booties – still would be B&B

This is a long shot but one of my rings flew off my finger this morning not far from the point. I know it is peobably way beneath the sand but just in case some sharp eyed person spots it, a reward if anyone finds it.
It was pitch black at the time except foe the phosphorescence so I couldn’t look for it…

Good one Mary!! Jon was about to call his IP lawyer friends….
I thought someone was playing a joke on me when my bag completely disappeared from the benches with my wetsuit, swimmers, i-phone and other valuables inside. Thanks to the search party, police, fire-brigade, reassurers who told me about the history of stolen bags in Manly and Bondi…. eventually tracked it down with the help of the i-phone locator which pointed to Bernhard’s office.
No, Bernhard, my new, large back-pack looks nothing like your little scruffy, frayed number and weighs four times as much and no, when you run off with someone else’s bag, you don’t ask them to return your bag to you in North Ryde as I’m sure Dr Lips and Prof Nicko will point out:-))
At least it was a glorious swim….. perfect conditions for a double….. thx, Storchy!!

Take it as a compliment Sarah. I was so mesmerised by your presence and our post swim conversation, that I picked the wrong bag when leaving (or maybe I thought indeed wow this bag looks much nicer than mine, why not take it).
Now I am sacrificing my precious lunch break to rush from North Sydney back to Manly to undo my error. Please be assured I will also ask our etiquette specialists Dr L and Prof N for advice on how to best compensate you for the “inconvenience”

Beautiful pictures Mary, hope these conditions stay a while…I think we’d have to go The Bolds or The Pink Caps 🙂

What a gorgeous morning for a swim: warm, clear, and watching the sun rise above the ocean at Manly.
Etiquette question for Dr L and Prof N:
If most people are wearing their uggs to the swim in Winter, is it acceptable to wear a fluffly dressing gown?

Thx, Bernhard, all good:-)) I’m sure Dr L and Prof N will recommend you book an early double-date with me!

I want to do the right thing, therefore my appeal to the etiquette committee (Dr L and Prof N).
As penitence for my wrongdoing, I am willing to offer:
a. a big hug
b. an early double date (ouch – getting up so early)
c. a box of fine Swiss chocolate (may take some days to organise)
Please advise.
PS: The object (an old K-Mart style bag) has been returned to its bona fide owner

Interesting question. Definitely a grey area. How fluffy are we talking Ros?
I think you are okay as long as you don’t upstage Shaun’s chest hair..

Oh Bernhard, big hugs are a dime a dozen and I’m on a diet – so sorry, no way to wriggle out of the early double date:-) Sorry, it can’t wait for the EQ (etiquette committee) next week, though I think they should address the issue of pinching ladies’ bags!
Tomorrow, 6.25?

Swim bag theft is a serious matter. While unintentionally, Bernhard’s actions have clearly caused distress and potentially trauma on the victim’s side.
Having said that, appropriate form of compensation needs to be negotiated directly between the two parties involved. If I was Sarah, I’d aim higher than a double-date and swiss chocolate.

ok, seems you leave me no other choice. Happily looking forward to 6.25am tomorrow morning.
And I am glad I did not pinch Rainer’s bag, apparently this would end up being a costly error.

Can’t believe I got duped by you Mary on April Fools Day! I have a friend who did get sued by Absolut Vodka for starting Absolut Swim Wear selling cozzies so it’s not too far fetched!
