We seek him here, we seek him there, but to be fair, I couldn’t find John Rankin anywhere ! Happy Birthday John xoxoxo !

“Long Time No Sea”

We all feel it ! but swimming  can be seen as a form of meditation, In the open water, sensory deprivation is not a choice.
Swimmers cannot see far in the water and can hear even less. So as you swim just lose yourself in the “Moment”

Luckily I got some Nemo shots yesterday.

Only the brave came today.

Going to be hard to accept a winter badge this year, with the water being like a tepid bath. 18.6 Degrees Wow !

Being in cool water forces you to burn more calories (via brown fat activation) to maintain your body temperature.

We need to embrace the rejuvenating effects of cold water.

I did find john by chance, But I didn’t know it was his birthday till all were waiting at Bluewater (for cake)

Shelley K  needs her hot water after her meditative swim,

although maybe that’s what she is thinking about on the way back.

Big Al loves his hot water

As does Lainey Loo who’s husband is Tedley Too !

The brains trust for the up coming Trivia night

Steve & Fire Chief Kenny waiting for coffee.

Tedley, Martin & Big Jim Hudson are salivating at the thought of John Rankin coming up with cake,

only to be greeted with disappointment.

Patrick gets in some practice, already  scoff down some of John’s cake.

Rat-a-tat-tat who’s Tatt is that ?? answers below.

Jim decided we should all go to Manly wine to find John,

but Drinksy breaks the bad news that he hasn’t been seen.

Henrietta can sniff out a cake at 100 metres said “I haven’t seen John anywhere”

I finally found John Rankin, Lainey   and the rest of you were at Shelly to wish him happy Birthday !

Lainey Loo had photos too ! Thanks Lainey for the pics.

Hope you have a great day John, looks like Jill is going to spoil you 😉

Staying safe

Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Thanks Shelly for the meditative and calming blog, and what a great photo of that damned elusive pimpernel & his lovely missus that is at the end.
