Sunday 28 July: Temp’s Up

28/07/201911

A gorgeous sky and perfect conditions greeted me this morning.  As did these three lovely swimmers:

Alanna, Anne and Edwina had arrived early for some pre-swim chats.

Dave had also arrived early with Baxter, who was upping the cuteness factor of the morning.  Ed got special cuddles:

Belinda, Emma and Kerry couldn’t wait for 7am to arrive:

They co-opted Clare, Dave and Baxter for another photo (with Clare getting REALLY special cuddles 🙂 ):

And then, quite coincidentally, Camera-Shy Shaun just happened to walk past:

Ian and John signed in the newbies and revealed the one statistic we all care about: the water temperature.  17.4!!!  Well done, Mr Bond.  Whatever you’re doing, keep doing it.

However, regular swimmers Drinksy and Lesbubbles were not at all impressed by this rise in temperature:

It didn’t get any better when Lesbubs took the plunge:

(Seeing as winter swimmers are making the effort to get up in the dark in the middle of winter, might Management be able to do their bit by making sure the temperature stays below 16?  Just a suggestion!)

Meanwhile, Camera-Shy Shaun and the lovely Veena were surprised to stumble into the blog camera again:

These guys took to the conditions like ducks to water:

The 7.04 Sunday Shuffle.  I love how things are more relaxed on a Sunday.

But not too relaxed: at the Point, Lesley and Rainer convened a Sunday Bloggers committee meeting to discuss our upcoming recruitment drive (see below), with Ian and Anne closely monitoring activities in light of the recent Royal Commission into Something Or Other:

Then Camera-Shy Shaun just happened to float past:

(Is the Nicest Man in Manly survey about to kick off?)

Found this fella just as we left the Point.  He was bigger than the photos suggest.  Is this the ray people have been spotting all week?

Then – horror of horrors – I nearly swam into this guy:

I totally blame the jimble for my late arrival at Shelly.  And for many other things, including Bert Newton and England’s recent batting collapse against Ireland.  Thankfully, I found this enthusiastic, jimble-free bunch still at the beach:

I also found plenty of fish life on the way back:

I love how these guys swim in a line.

The yellowtail are far messier:

Great to see plenty of fish around the crayweed.

A gentle wave to guide us home:

KeepCup Queens Belinda, Clare and Jo.  Great to see you back in the water, Clare!  (Although technically I only saw you drinking coffee … 🙂 )

Rainer, Tim, Lesbubs and Iggy did stuff:

Rainer told tales about his many KeepCups:

Patrick listened, enraptured:

And regular Sunday blogger Iggy asked Lesbubs to make a video for the Sunday blogging recruitment drive:

Which Lesbubs duly did:

Nice one, Lesbubs!  If you, dear reader, are interested in joining the fun-loving, supportive bunch that is the Sunday Blogging Team, then just speak to Gemma, Lesbubbles or Ian, and we’ll make your dream happen*.

*Subject to interview and usual terms and conditions.

Have a great Sunday, everyone!

Stats:

310 swimmers
3 newbies
17.4 degrees
