Moonlight Swim for “Lifeline”

Next Friday night / Saturday morning, 23/24 June 2017, Michael Teys will swim the B n B Shelly Manly swim for 8 hours starting from midnight until 8am.!!  Michael is in training for the 32km  Catalina – LA Channel swim on 19 July.

This is Michael’s second international channel swim. He swam the English Channel in 2014 just two years after starting his open water swimming career with the Bold n Beautiful in 2012.

Michael swims to manage his bipolar disorder and raises money for Lifeline to stop suicide. More than 8 people a day die by suicide in Australia and 6 of these are men. Suicide is the biggest killer of all people ages 15- 44 in Australia.  Lifeline takes nearly 1 million calls a year from people in crisis and saves an estimates 100,000 lives a year.

For this swim Michael needs to raise an extra $ 10, 000 to fund a Telephone Line Counsellor for Lifeline Northern Beaches. The Balgowlah call centre has 8 telephone counsellor chairs and last year answered 62 066 calls from Northern beach locals. It does not have enough volunteers to answers the calls at night and needs t0 pay people for this service.

Next Saturday morning Volunteers from Lifeline will be at the beach collecting donations or you can donate online by clicking:
