Monday 12th November 2018 – Fancy that!

November 12, 20184

A recent meeting with the Manly LSC by the member for Warringah revealed he barely knew the B&B existed, fancy that!

Just in case you haven’t heard, the Bold and Beautiful Swim Squad, located at Manly Beach, has over 15000 members and is arguably the largest daily swim squad in the world!!

Today’s B&B action with over 200 swimmers illustrates the size and reach of our community. Our admin desk has been registering new members with a free pink cap and recording the water temperature since 2010. Today’s temp is 19.5 degs.

This blog records the squad’s daily action with approx 1000 hits a day!

Here is the 6:30am group heading out past the weed.

7:01 and the crowd stretched over 80m from the promenade to the point.

The B&B was founded in Dec 2008 by Julie Isbill (2nd from left) here today with partner Micheal Christie (left) alongside local finance guru Jim and our Lucy, famous for sharing news with husband (speedster Brad) about their engagement, wedding and arrival of Millie & Zac during Shelly swims.

Congratulations to Muscle Matt, national Masters Life saving champ & B&B speedster, on the arrival of son Flynn.

Wilf one of our 80+ yr old swimmers.

Part of this mornings 5:40am group.

Congratulations John on passing 3000kms of swimming with the B&B.

Pristine conditions in the water today, helped by B&Bers like Richard and Ali, ever on the lookout for rubbish.

Our B&B family is a true broad church such as these women with backgrounds in medicine, finance and astrophysics.

Many family groups.

Fire Superintendant Ken refueled on raison toast after this mornings triple.

Lawyer & Director Di (right) with swim buddy.

Julia our favourite broadcaster and journalist with buddy.

David most often photographed with the former foreign minister and  today’s swim buddy.

Derrick, most popular man in Manly with Sarah most popular woman in Manly and Hong Kong.

Physio Michelle and favourite teacher Lainie.

A-team dressing room due to poor public facilities.

Big Jim introduced me to his grazier wife Anne.

Richard, keen sailor and landlord.

Thanks Fifi for sharing this shot of blue swimming buddy known to all B&Bers.

So the B&B really is a big deal to all of us. I like th quote from one of our many B&B physicians that,  the B&B is doing as much for public health as our local hospitals.

Have a great week ahead

Simon
