This extremely rare sighting of four mythical creatures. They are mysterious, reported to be dangerous, using their extreme beauty to entice the unwary. I escaped. Barely.
Mermaid Sue, embarking on her double and 3 singles this morning.
Sunrise in our special corner is always lovely – extrovertedly spectacular or more subtle and muted. This is today’s, with some early swimmers rising to greet it.
The regulars and several newbies gathering pre the 7am: The long shadows and warm clothing an indication of the approaching cold weather despite the quite comfortable water temps.
The board and the Tree of Knowledge
Wrong way, buddy
Milling about at Shelley
And finally the Let’s Go
This flathead was barely visible on the sand close to Shelley
There were many reports of Dusky Whaler Shark sightings. I also saw quite a few but this is as close as I could get
More luck with the yellowtail, scorpion fish, groper and fiddler ray, all between the yellow shed and the point.
The scorpion fish was sitting on the sand looking quite exposed. Previously I’d only seen them in amongst clumps of seaweed, trying to look like said clumps.
It was eyeballing me!
Finally, dog of the day, Lola – it just can’t be Colby all the time
Enjoy the rest of your weekend and remember the ocean is still there, waiting for you.
Daily stats –
swimmers – lots, newbies – at least 3, water temp -a toasty 20.9

What am I listening to? As April draws to a close, Mothers Day is approaching rapidly. What does this mean for you? Is it a day to celebrate and be celebrated, or just another consumer marketing ploy?
Here is a track about a mother who is not enjoying her new home.
