Tues 9th: ‘Stand By Me’ – Bold Friendships

09/02/20168

CONDITIONS

Calm and clear water.  Mild, still morning.  Lovely sunrise, with perhaps some rain clouds approaching from inland …

————————-

Stand By Me (1986) is an American coming-of-age adventure directed by Rob Reiner, and based on Stephen King’s novella The Body.  The title is derived from the Ben E King song of same name, and this plays over the opening and end credits.  The film tells the story of four boys in small town Oregon who go on a weekend hike across the countryside, to find the dead body of a missing child.

I love this film.  It stands the test of time.  I can recommend its watching with your young teen girls and boys.

Apparently the Bolds breached the front door of surf club last Friday evening, and swamped the upstairs bar.  What do you think about that, Dave?

Jenny has a full-strength squadron on the yoga mats today …

Do you seek intelligent coffee time at the beach?

A-TEAM UPSET!!!

Young Adam (10 yrs old – from Hong Kong) with his dad Kym Graham.  Adam finished second in the race back.  Still disputed; but is believed to have beaten Brad. Classic!

Newbie Pete.  He’s swum  about five times since joining last month.  Formerly from this area, builder Pete lives down at Huskisson, and slept in his car last night – happily.  His brothers Steve and Terry are RIP on this arm.  The three sisters are still with us, and other arm is vacant and waiting (“If I outlive them.”).  He has told one sister this: “But not the other two!”

DISTANCE EVENT REPORTS

1.  Rottnest Channel Swim – Finally getting close (less than three weeks).  Last  Saturday Clair and Sammi were training, and practising eating en route from accompanying canoe.  This mix is honey, coconut water and liquefied dates.  And the team colour looks to be purple …

2. Bolds 10-K Swim.  Kevin’s watch GPSed him at 10.3 kilometres on Saturday.  Carrying food satchels in thoughtfully well-packed Speedos; he even put the empties back down there, and brought ’em home to shore.  Good man   🙂

JOIN THE RED ARMY TODAY – REDFEB  2015

REDFEB is Heart Research Australia’s signature fundraising campaign. It
promotes a heart healthy lifestyle and raises much needed funds for
first-stage innovative research into the prevention, diagnosis and
treatment of heart disease.  Click for more info:   http://redfeb.com.au/

B&B will again be assisting this cause in 2016 by holding a fundraising
race over the whole of February. The Race€ will be between our own
two teams: The A TEAM and TEAM OMEGA.

You can donate funds to your chosen team on the team page, or even better, you can create your own page where
all your friends can donate towards the cause.

Our fundraising effort will be highlighted on Saturday 13th February when
we will all exchange our pink caps for RED ones at 7 am as we have our own
RED FEB RACE. I think we know who will win the swimming race, but
who will win the fundraising race? To help you choose who to support, here
is a statement in support of each of the teams:

A-Team
The A-team comprises the elite swimmers in the Bold and Beautiful. Not
only are they good looking, they are FAST. They like to compete and they
like to WIN. While they are virtually assured of a win in the swimming
race, they also want desperately to win the fundraising! Dave Panton, the
quintessential A-Teamer says “Bring it on!”

Team Omega
The members of Team Omega are slow but steady. While they are normally
found at the back of the pack, they are always persistent and never give
up. No challenge is too great for these swimmers. Elizabeth X, the leader
of Team Omega, and an experienced fundraiser, says she is quietly
confident of a victory.

Another thoroughly questionable blog Roger. Great work. We still need a follow-up on the missing beard though.
