Love Tips from the Bishop

19/03/201517

Great morning at the Bold and Beautiful. Can you believe the water is still 22.2 degrees? It really was classico conditions…

Scotty and I live parallel lives. We got married within a few weeks of each other, had our first kid within 6 weeks of each other, bought houses within a few weeks of each other… and now are both expecting our 2nd kid within one week of each other… No wonder we are so even on the race back from Shelly Beach!

But today… and it was inevitable that it would happen eventually… my brother beat us both. From now on, no more drinking, no more eating like a pig, no more Mr Nice Guy…

Good to see Woody at the swim. He is a local institution. I honestly love this guy!

And these two fitness queens were running the beach, swimming the bay, drinking the coffee…

Zipper club. Anyone beat this one?

Thanks for helping me write the blog Shmope…

Finally I thought as the Bishop I should dish out some love tips to help rekindle the flame in your relationship…

1. Have a regular date night! You need time with just you and your partner. In the chaos that is kids, full time work, keeping up with the Jones’… make sure you carve out time for your most important relationship. What gives both you and your partner joy? Dinner, dancing, the theatre… Every week, one date night!

2. Active listening! Sometimes when our relationships get bogged down, communication goes out the window. One of the best things we can do is practise active listening. NO JUSTIFYING YOUR BEHAVIOUR! Just listen to your partners concerns, repeat back to them what they are saying and ask them how you could have acted differently. Then swap turns.

3. Love languages! We all have different ways of showing and receiving love. The 5 common ways are Physical touch, acts of service, words of affirmation, quality time and giving gifts. Often we think the way we receive love is the also the way our partner does. Why not spend the time finding out the top two love languages of your partner and give it to them in bucket loads!

Have a great week,

Tim

Nice one Bishop. Shmope co-writing the blog clearly helped.
Stunner morning indeed. So grateful I was able to enjoy it undisturbed by silly dugong races. Thanks LSA!
And well done Elaine on making the Thursday blog! Whats your secret?

…oh and also enjoyed the early ‘solo’ swim in the dark with Shaun….helps to place bets on both racers and get tips from each, that way, success is guaranteed and more love will be flowing….

and The “5 Love Languages” book is sooo awesome – I reckon many MANY more people would stay together if that read that book!

    Great blog Tim
I am a bit confused though.
Are you saying I need a date night with Lips? Sorry, correction – Slow Lips.

It wasn’t a dark solo, it was a semi dark duo.
I’m not silly enough to practice “that” kick with you hovering Sarah.
The Frenchie only comes out in solo dark swims for training or on an official race day.

At Shelly, Nick was patiently (again!) trying to explain the intricacies of the finer details, such as the counting backwards in French….and the pause…. to Lips and me.
A bit befuddled…. and yeh, I noticed you were more focussed on driving me onto the rocks on return than helping me practice the kick…!!

I asked DWSS to explain the French Kick to me. He said if he told me he’d have to kill me……

Nice blog Tim. Disappointed we didn’t find out what Sterls was up to this week but the shirtless Woodie made up … Don’t worry.
