And I think they may be right !
The Drinks express x 10 were the only crazy one to go from the beach !
There was never any discussion it was only ever going to be a half way swim.
The surf was pretty gnarly..

Penny Berents,
who is a marine biologist and currently a Senior Fellow at the Australian Museum Research Institute gave an interesting talk @ Bluewater last night ! Her talk focused on the animals of Cabbage Tree Bay, both those that we see on our swims and the smaller more cryptic beasties that we don’t see but are important in the ecosystems of the Bay.
Penny has been swimming and diving in Sydney waters for more than 40 years.

but everybody looks so happy…! Well done Buffman on another great blog. I almost wish I’d got out of bed and swam but that doona was SO warm! Love the group photo at Shelly and all the other photos catching a swim for the hardcores! Thank you penny for a very interesting talk last night. I’m excited to think there are so many creatures we don’t see hiding in that kelp and under rocks!

Loved Penny’s talk last night – most enlightening about all the goings-on underwater. Thanks Penny; we are lucky to have such an experienced marine biologist swimming with us.

It was actually not too bad. Bower-Shelly was pretty calm, just murky. And cold! It was windy and cold. Hats off – once again – to those who swam without a wetsuit!

Great blog Buffman. Good to see you are making yourself useful. I just saw the Manly ferry bouncing up and down as she made her way across the heads. Not a great day in the water but spectacular to watch. Well done all who bravely swam. See you on a calm day

Nice one Buffman, you tell a good story.
I went in with the Drinks Express, a longer swim than usual to Shelly given the strong northerly current and bumpy backwash , the return trip, with the current , was pretty quick with a smooth section in the middle and lots of whitewater into the beach

I’m with you, Lyndall (as in see you on a calm day!) My car aqua-planed all the way home last night. Very scary, but it was worth it to hang out with the lovely B ‘n’ B again, and get a bonus interesting talk as well!
