It’s nearly Autumn!

01/02/20194

Things had changed so dramatically this morning, it was a pleasant change but also a rude shock. Some people experienced 40 degree temperatures yesterday, and early today it was grey and cool with a gently breeze down at Manly. Only four more weeks to swim longer distances and get badges, pack them in if you’re keen.
The manly masters hatching a plan for their training:

Murray swam early then put his bathrobe on:

Josh was one of the newbies today. You couldn’t get a nicer day to start, it was calm and fairly clear. Still a few sea lice around, but no jellies of any sort that sting or do damage, winning there!

Yesterday was Wilf’s birthday, into the early 80’s, not sure exactly of his age, but what an inspiration to everyone. So active, healthy, positive and funny , he’s a champion. Sitting here with Matt, who became a dad recently

Lots of people coming and going at the ramp and beach:

I swam with Pauline, both of us nursing different injuries, so taking it slowly but surely along the scenic route. It was so serene and pretty today I made her pose for me  in front of the towers:

this is one jelly I’ve tried to grab before thinking it’s plastic, did the same today, breaks up into little pieces and doesn’t leave a sting:

Now, one of our swimmers Lindsay Glover, has returned to the UK some time ago. She has continued her swimming throughout winter time,  and is following a challenge with the Oxford Open Water Swimming Club. She’s working towards a winter badge, 20 swims in less than 10 degrees!! The last post I saw from her was air temperature of -2 degrees, water temp of 4 degrees and she roughly aims to stay in a minute per degree of temperature.  A little bit hard core! But being medical, she’s fully aware of the benefits of the swimming. There’s a sauna involved after, holding a cup of hot drink for a long time, and a bit of left over tingling for some time. Anyone who knows Lindsay knows she hasn’t got a lot of fat reserves! Hats off to her and apparently the group admired her jacket from the B and B and all her badges, hence the new concept over there.
I saw a lovely school of yellow tails but geez they were hard to capture:

My view on return to the beach. always love seeing the club and the trees:

I bumped into a swimmer today, each shoulder got pushed a little, stopped and it was a cousin of a friend. Then I saw them on land afterwards, Ali Harmer and Vivien Kaye

That’s it from me, I’m covering Elizabeth who’s sister had a nasty accident yesterday, take care everyone,
ciao-edwina.

Lovely blog Edwina. I hope Elizabeth’s sister is ok. Can’t believe the Oxford Open water challenge! That is tough. Good on Lindsay!
