It feels like we have turned the corner ! Summer is on the way.

Winter Badge Ceremony 13th September at the RFW

Although the cold bites hard into some people !

With zero circulation to the finger tips, spinning her arms around like a helicopter out of control

Not sure if blogger Roger swam today or he is just filling in for Bill McCaffeine.

Former tile man , current gap year student Drinky loves the camera.

Both with cold wet hair ! the lovely Sarah & gorgeous Annie

happy to pose a cheesy smile for the blogger.

The easy going Kerry, multi tasking posing for the camera whilst socializ ing

Finally caught Rainer not bombing, but not actually sure what he is doing.

Congratulations to Mr “Lets Go” John Kelly who is going to change his name to Grandad !

although his wife Joyce was heard to say …

“I can’t begin to tell you all how excited I am. Don’t like the thought of sleeping with a grandad though. ”

Don’t worry JK we all still love you….. Poppa 😉

18.3 degrees in the water today. One new swimmer joined about 127 others.

Suns out & the benches are starting to get a work out

B&Bers on Tour…..

The lovely Anna A is swimming the Rhine in Germany.

Hands up those who’ve swum in the river Rhine? Exhilarating current of 4-5 knots. Murky but clean and not cold. Yolo 😊”

While Trusty Rusty the 2000k man is in Wellington NZ

“Cold water swimming in Wellington, NZ.
9 degrees.
Takes your breath away. Is it too early for a pinot? ”

Streetwork are trying to raise money (and awareness) of StreetWork Manly and to do this Jim Stackpool is helping organise a gig at North Manly Bowlo Saturday night 13th August. They’re charging $35/head (best beforehand using the trybooking site – https://www.trybooking.com/206959) or will also take money at the door – the fees includes food, not drinks and music from the 2WS playlist – i.e. three chord songs – we don’t know any others!
Come prepared to dance.
Fundamentally StreetWork work with kids in Manly ‘under pressure’ or on the street. They mentor kids one-on-one until they are ‘out of danger’ of self-harm, crime, drugs, or worst of all suicide. These kids are ‘usually’ living at home, but not in safe environments. They struggle for funds and like most charities are held together but a dedicated few doing a lot in their spare time. We’ll have one of the guys from StreetWork (they have two counsellors now and trying to get another – they can’t meet demand) at the gig giving a really quick story about what they do. As many B&B’s that want a night out dancing to us playing 1970’s, 1980’s rock’n’roll (three chords only) with drinks at pub prices.

Staying safe

Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. I like it when you smile, but I love it when I’m the reason

Have a great day ! Mine started out great !!!

Not sure how you missed me, Shelly, even though you caught my morning’s swim partner Storchy who only gets his hair wet when I’m back in town!
So great to be back in time for summer! Divine conditions……look forward to more catch-ups over the next few days xxx

Sensational blog Shelly. From a rainy day in Delhi, it really gave me a good laugh. I’m really questioning my logic in leaving paradise..
