Great talk given by Guy Dunstan on his struggle with Bipolar & not over coming it but learning to live with it and the ways to recognise the signs.
Like all thing early diagnosis is the key.
I know personally what its like as my mother suffered from Bipolar (manic depression) all her life ! Many people can be helped by just getting regular exercise.
Doing regular physical activity is a good way to help prevent or manage mild depression. Keeping active can help you stay physically fit and mentally healthy.
Doing regular physical activity is a good way to help prevent or manage mild depression. There are many views on how exercise helps people with depression, but it is not yet known which kind of exercise is best or whether the benefits are lost if exercise is stopped.
Keeping active can:
- help lift mood through improved fitness and the release of natural chemicals in the brain
- help improve sleeping patterns
- increase energy levels
- help block negative thoughts or distract people from daily worries
- help people feel less alone if they exercise with others.

Me too – love the shark tower photos. Any records exist about whether they actually saw anything from the tower?? (Was it pulled down because it was ineffective ?)

Hi Emma. It was pulled down in the 70’s after a combination of concrete cancer and storm damage made it unsafe for the public.
I have also seen a photo of a lifeguard who climbed out the window and sat on top of the roof to keep watch. He would have had a great view from there.

Congrats to Gayle, Ian, Lainey and Ted – very impressive milestones and also to Maxine, same ! I too love that underwater shot of the fish and then the swimmers – what a ripper and the old time ones and videos. Thanks for taking the trouble to dig those out for us and all the effort you and Gayle and Ian put in to our pink capped community. Appreciated
A team / table of knowledge / year 6 boys / whatever. All those take away cups in that shot, just like every morning. Really not a good look. Inspires me to do better and try and bring my ‘keep cup’ more often.
