From Russia with Love

15/08/20250

My heart is a muscle and it pumps blood. Like a big old black steam train.

Andre requests a pre-birthday wish, a hug under hot water. Very steamy!

My veins are the tracks. And the city is my brain

Rusty’s Pitch report

Dolphins play wide as we come up the ramp. Also whales spotted splashing in line with the shark listening buoy. Wall angel stretches straighten me out at 6am. Before Brett takes us north, sprinting with breath control. 100m 3 breathes, 4, 5, losing count as we go up the scale. Trish notes we have forgotten to swim without flippers. It’s so true, after weeks of waves and fun. Back to the swimming this week after gorging ourselves on that easterly swell. The sandbanks wide are shallow primed for a decent swell for the wave addicts amongst us. The swell pulses threaten to peak before we collect at the Trident. Cash in the chips. 17.9 in the water. It’s actually 2 weeks to Spring, it’s warming. Some of our gang remain skeptical. Surf life savers on boards cross us near the end and we blame a fluorescent pink Hasko for disrupting our sprint rhythm. A wave to finish. Tim & Robbie tell of improving viz across the bay and multiple wobby spottings. It’s magic out there, don’t be scared away by the weather forecast.

My stomach is the ocean, and it swallows up the sun. At the end of a summer’s day

My breath’s like a breeze. It blows all those storm clouds away

Vini’s café to debrief. Russian hats. Winnipeg excursions. Balinese adventures. Watching cricket. Scalpers. We may have even talked about the swim. We head our separate ways, full of coffee, and filled to the brim. Every day you play with the light of the universe.

Thanks for the swim and coffee team. Remember don’t let your true love run cold!
