Winter is gone so there is more light but so have the calm conditions. We were all wondering whether the waves were manageable or not.
Some broad discussions on pros and cons
Are the waves too messy? Are they dumping or soft?
swimmers in differing configurations: spot the difference
Some are less worried about the waves than others
Some of us laugh in the face of adversity (waves)
Someone in this photo just swam the Maui channel!!!
John from management is making an announcement about the waves. In part he said about the early swimmers entering the surf: “Some did not make it back”
Jim is not worried about reports of the early swimmers not coming back – he and Martin are not fazed by waves
The rip was not doing a good job of getting swimmers out today
Phew – here is an early swimmer and he did make it back!
Here in the middle is Jo from Dubai. Great to swim with you
All swimmers are excellent but here is a particularly excellent trio – photogenic and fantastic ocean swimmers.
Sometimes swimmers are reluctant to be photographed. Lucky they come out so well.
Alan and John
Greg is followed by John from management who has someone to bring back his things! Privileges. And all he has to do for that is come to run the swim each and every day!
Pauline entered correctly; behind, swimmers using an alternative entry point.
Jason was watching me swim like action and just checking I was ok.

This top was left behind today. It did not suit Ian so ask tomorrow
What I am reading: The Ghost Empire by Richard Fidler ( of 702 Conversations) . On the Ottoman Empire. Just fantastic. I recommend it highly
B&B monthly dinner: Tuesday 13th September
6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant
Guest speaker is Jude Furniss (Founder of Bommie Australia and President of Surfrider Foundation Manly)
Jude will present the film “My Saltwater Sanctuary” including footage from Cabbage Tree Bay, which was declared an Aquatic Reserve in 2002. We all witness daily the stunning success story of how protection over the last ten years has replenished the marine populations here.
NSW currently only has 7 % of its coastline protected in twenty marine sanctuaries, so Surfrider Foundation has joined the Nature Conservation Council in the charge to lobby government to restore the ten sanctuary zones still unprotected, and increase the percentage of marine park areas in NSW by establishing a Sydney Marine Park.
Made by producers Bluebottle Films, it’s a beautiful film about locals living alongside marine reserves … and the difference every one of us can make in the protection of them.

Cost of dinner: $25 a head
Includes shared entrees, a selection of mains to choose (incl a vegetarian option), corkage (for byo wine only) and a little thank you for the staff.
Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each.
Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential:
