Today was a beautiful swim day with calm seas, water a warm 23 plus, sun in the sky and as far as I can tell, no blue bottles.
Today we also farewelled our treasured swim friend Justus Potgieter. I will share a photo I took of him, Errol and Charl on foggy day in 2019, an odd weather day and lucky all got out ok. Justus was a kind person, intelligent and naturally curious and knowledgeable. He will be missed but also remembered because he left a lovely impact on many lives including mine. A friendly face, always a smile and some nice chat. He spoke to me about books he read as he deduced I loved reading. So kind. May he rest in peace.
Today is International Womens Day. At the risk of sounding like a Monty Python character, when I was a child we did not celebrate this day. But now we do. The theme this year is “Count her in. Accelerate Progress” and is about including women and girls everywhere. I think the BB culture is inclusive of women and girls and I hope that all of us have had a good IWD.
The question on everyone’s mind today was whether there were bluebottles. There were not.
Rob, Jack and Ed
And the FFFs were not afeared of anything. They were running and whooping and body surfing. Lots of powerful positive energy
And then the 7am swim – joy
