Friday 6th – The Return of the Shivering Shag

06/01/20230

The morning wakes up to a southerly wind, a light rain, a swell with some easterly in it. And all of a sudden it’s flat… and viz is rapidly improving.

Drinksy always says it takes 4 days of a southerly blow to return the bay to normal. We are well on the way.

Guy refuses to round up to 20 degrees as we walk down the ramp. There’s a lot of warmer patches as we head across the bay.

And I don’t know if I’m being foolishDon’t know if I’m being wise

But it’s something that I must believe inAnd it’s there when I look in your eyes

Pitch report

Joined Red Baron & Snoopy for a couple of laps today. At 6am it was pristine, and very quiet on the traffic front. By 730 some lice had woken up just off the pool, and coming back the chop started getting up. Go hard, go early. Some action at Passage Rock today, the Red Baron aimed the entry and missed and body surfed straight over the rock, unharmed. Lainey was looking for the blind shark that everyone was talking about, and grounded herself on the barnacles in the passage. The blind leading the blind. My previous attempts haven’t ended well so I just battled the quite strong rip. Caroline reports the eagle ray and 2 massive kingfish. Lullaby rocking water bouncing off the wall at Shelley.

With the WA borders now open, I have been joined by my Dad, the Shivering Shag, for the past 2 weeks for Christmas. It’s been over 4 years between swims. And the old bloke is still swimming strong. There’s not much better than swimming out across the bay with family. Happy New Year everyone, hope you’ve had the chance to catch up with family & friends…

Thanks for the swim and coffee Team. Remember don’t let your true love run cold!
