The conditions today were the same as they appeared to be. Thank you Sean for the title of the blog
It is important to have a good look at the conditions for a good while before you get in so that, if you can, you discern patterns. Attention to detail will reward you with a good idea of what awaits you in the swim. Simon Phin even observes the direction of the swell and notes the impact on his breathing. That is really extra.
Today the waves went up and down but in a nice enjoyable way
Getting ready to go in
Been in and reporting a good swim
In we go!
Stopping swimmers at the point for a photo
Petra the Mermaid (it is on her swim cap) saw a grey nurse shark. I looked but did not see it
Some excellent sighting. Eyes just above the water like a crocodile. Expert
Technique
They say that the devil is in the detail but if you do not pay attention to detail it can be a devilish outcome. Take for example my numerous efforts to improve technique involve workshops and reading and youtube watching. [Which I will continue while I enjoy it or until there is an improvement.] Body rotation is one thing I have been working on. I thought a youtube I saw with a drill for improving body rotation said to turn like a rotisserie chicken but actually it said to turn quickly and NOT like a rotisserie chicken. Imagine all that time wasted visualising myself as a rotisserie chicken for no gain.
Have a great day

Love your sense of humour. Trying to improve technique myself. Could you describe what swimming like a rotisserie chicken is like so that I can try and avoid it.

I’m sorry Craig there are some things that just can’t be described. I don’t think you could manage the rotisserie chicken manoeuvre so just stick with swimming well!

Haha that rotisserie chicken image is indelibly etched in my mind. I might not try it.
Great blog.
