I have been told and tell my children not to judge a book by its cover but we all know that everyone including me, does judge a book by its cover. That is why, even though I identify myself as an ocean swimmer, people find it surprising. And I do think of myself as an ocean swimmer even though last Sunday I had to get saved by a life saver on a rescue board when I could not exit the beach. It was hilarious to watch I am sure from the shore but I was shaken by it and felt bold getting in today.
What a tremendous day. Just lovely. There were ships on the horizon. I think they might be cruise ships demanding to join in the swim. look closely at the horizon
Elaine and Bernhard have had a run already
Bernhard saw the sunrise from North Head – magnificent
Shaun has swum already
Peter is stretching – good idea
Clive
Quite a few good men
Henrietta Dorset and Mike
Here is a newbie but he might already know ocean swimming as he has a Big Swim T shirt. The secret language of ocean swimmers
Mike and Rosie (her first swim)
Here is a bolderdasher – he said it was s great as it looks
I did get to shelly today but no photos because I got water in my camera. boo hoo. I will have to go to our Paul’s camera shop in Warringah Mall to get advice on a new one. He has given heaps of cameras to BB in the past and now for some business
What I have been reading
of course, I have been reading the newly released book by Michael Connelly, The Wrong Side of Goodbye. I will disclose that I am a fan of this writer before saying it is REALLY EXCELLENT

Staying safe
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

I was in your shoes last year Elizabeth, getting rescued while standing in the water! Wasn’t funny watching from shore either, just glad you got in eventually. Sorry your camera got damaged

Thankyou for that lovely acknowledgement for Rosies’ first swim. She was so excited to make it all the way to Shelley.
