What I have been reading
The Hillbilly Elegy by JD Vance. A story about a hill billy made good who looks at why working class Americans are so cross (that they elected Donald Trump). Excellent so far.
Also, did you know that one of our swimmers, writer, Helen Thurloe has written a poem that is entitled something like Bold and Beautiful 7 am. I wonder what it is about. Maybe we will get to read it when a certain poetry award ceremony is over…
Scallops
At dinner one night I wondered how scallops swim. Google said that they can swim with brief bursts of speed to escape predators, either forward or back. The most interesting part was that the predators of scallops are starfish!

B&B MONTHLY DINNER – GUEST SPEAKER
The next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 8th August at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. The guest speaker on the night will be travel agent Brett Goulston, whose talk is entitled “20 places you should visit even though you may never have heard about them and probably can’t pronounce them”
Brett is co-owner of Blue Dot Travel (with two of our B&B swimmers, Brod Brennan & Joanne Coughlan). All three are travel tragics who have travelled to most of the corners of the globe and are passionate travellers, swimmers and walkers.
Blue Dot Travel is a boutique travel business which has generously signed on as a B&B sponsor. The business focuses on mature/young at heart travellers who are looking for unique experiences (think Madagascar, Kamchatka, Nagaland, Ethiopia, Caucuses, Iceland, etc). To celebrate the occasion they will be giving away 5 lucky door prizes on the night as well as offering Bold & Beautiful members a $250 discount off any trip they book in the next 60 days.
The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential: To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book HERE.

Beautiful blog Elizabeth. I love the way you have captured the sun shining on everyones faces. It makes it look deceptively warm. I’m looking forward to the cake stall tomorrow.

But the great JK didn’t know Nancy Sinatra’s “These boots are made for walking”. Unmistakable song and unmistakable voice just before 6 on ABC 702.

Hi all- if anyone found or handed in my Blue Seventy wetsuit today can you please get in touch? It would have been around the surf club or at Hakan’s.
Thanks!
