Above: Booty Camp stands united, like rabbits stuck in the glare of beach sweeper. These months, yoga is also starting in the dark. Devotees experience the gentle unfolding of each new dawn, and can toe into cool and svelte, freshly-smoothed sands. This is leader Jenny‘s flaired pant yesterday … as she adjusted a practiser’s pose.

Yoga Times:
Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays
6 a.m. to 6.55 a.m (Which gives you five minutes to prep for the seven O’clock swim) These classes exist through the generosity and commitment of several volunteer yoga teachers 🙂
At 6.50 yesterday, Jenny had us sit; still our minds, and meditate. “Let your thoughts go. Try and listen to a wave all the way through, until it is finished.”
—
There are plenty of quiet places along the beach … to perhaps meet in random serendipity. 7.15 yesterday – and as Derek exited the water, Anna (who’d slept in) was doing some catch-up solo yoga … the low, warming sunlight was beautiful.
—
Anna suggested I get a shot of the rodent trails that run along Manly’s seawall. (What? These tracks are news to me.) How does she know they’re rats? “You can see the scrape marks from their tails,” she explained.

CONDITIONS TODAY
Almost back to Summer, with the air a balmy 16˚. The water is clear and its temp up one degree. Booty Camp getting stuck in …
—
Six a.m. swimmers are only visible because of headlamps. A second small group wait each day for 6.15 and a bit of light. If I were with them, a photo might look a bit like this. (Thanks for great shot from two Saturdays ago, Mary)
—
This was Sterling’s fault! Dave Panton gets distracted, and skims the rocks – Not racing back; but when first heading out.
—
Jonathan Akers … is that the biggest sneeze ever, back there?
—
The gigantic cuttlefish 100 metres off Shelly today. Gayle McKnight said it was a whopper, all right!
Camera: Gillian Akers Photo: Nick Dawkins

I’ve known Marco for nearly a year, but only met his wife Nicky a few weeks ago. Couldn’t get it out of my mind that I somehow recognised her from somewhere. But finally the penny dropped; we were on same bus tour in Europe, 1985. This shot’s from a ferry ride on Istanbul’s Bosphorus …
—————————————————————————-
Kieran and David pause on exit ramp, to talk about stuff. (One may be giving the other a bit of advice.)
—
JP is the day’s A-Team winner; neck and neck with Brad. (Well; actually … Brad clipped him in the end)
—
Meanwhile, Cass (Mr Midge) keeps turning up, but never swims … he’s originally a Channel Islander (Guernsey). He makes me think this must be where all the pirates came from.
—
Uh-oh. Midge is still crying. This time it’s Storchy’s fault. “What did I do?!” he asks …
—
Justus and Greg at the Sunny Benches, which today are becoming slightly rain-sprinkled (which sends Electra’s crew packing into the nearby shelter shed).
—
Clouds covering the sun at 7.30 …
—
Nick dove down with Gillian’s camera for a close-up of cuttlefish today. Gillian’s a triathlete competitor (knees permitting), but packs her camera on each and every Bolds swim. “These are not competitive swims, and the camera helps me to slow down, and enjoy the roses,” she says.

PROCRASTINATORS ABOUT THE BENCHES
Lyndall, who works from home some days, at 8.40 a.m: “I’m late for the office. I really, really REALLY have to go. What? Anna and Issy are in Manly Wine? I’m going over!”

** BOLDS HOUSEKEEPING **
1. PUBLISHING
Peter Wood has finally received stocks of his new book ‘The Truth about Men and Love’. If you want the answers, read this now! You can catch Peter towelling off under the A-Palm, or later on … over at the A-Table of Sunny Benches, waiting for Meagan’s banana bread (which reliably arrives most days – complete with board, knife and butter).

3. WARNING and ALERT
Bolderdash heads-up
If you’re an average (or less) swimmer, do not swim to Queenscliff with these two blokes. I think they are on drugs or something – they are so fast. And they never stop for a chat; it’s hammer down, the whole way there and back. Carel and Gaetan: “No – we were not racing. We just had a swim.”
—
4. SCHEDULED DEPARTURES
The 6.30 a.m. Drinks Express departs on time every morning. It’s a tight cluster, and pretty quick. Once they beach, their iconic leader usually speaks to something motivational or topical, and he has a good voice for this. Back at the Club though, he just laughs a lot. His followers are dedicated.

As always love your blogs Roger !!!
You should write a book too !”The truth about B&B swimmers”
I have booked for Annie’s “Revive my style” which I believe is almost sold out Woohoo !!!!
but I have my doubts after her stylish dress at Halfway beach, thank god she has done something with that hairdo since then 😉
Is that a true story about Marco’s wife ?
Was Gayle talking about a cuttlefish as being a whopper ?
Finally, love the shot of Jenn meditating with the sun behind her.
Love you all

So hard to pick fact from fiction here today Roger – although I do know FOR A FACT that Annie chooses her goggles/swimmers/seaweed-wig colours based on the Pantone Colour of the Year. Am off to book in for the monthly dinner. Don’t want to miss out!

Hi Roger, great blog. Your headline sent back to the old Billie Thorpe song https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=659BB5W838I
which has some shots of Manly in 1975. Is that Lesley in the pink bonnet on the beach?

Brilliant blog as always Roger. Thanks for your efforts. The Drinkie face is superb. We should get some of those badges made up and then 20 swims with the Drinks Express and your earn one or something – there just aren’t enough badges !!! Amazing serendipity to have been on a bus tour together 30 years ago and now reconnect

That Drinksy logo needs to be made into an entire swimming fashion line. Caps, speedos, t-shirts, towels…

Can’t wait to have you there on the evening Anna! Yes, Pantone colour of the year 2015 ‘Masala’ is nicely represented in the odd swimming accessory of mine and hopefully many of the ‘Bold’s’ crew.

Thanks for housekeeping plug Roger…however not sure about the pole dancing…I think you are confusing that one with your own life experiences.
Seaweed hair on-trend Spring 2015. And love the sense of urgency to grab tickets Shelly! I’ll pay you later 🙂
