Friday 28 December 2018 Pink comfort

28/12/20185

Today the conditions were quite challenging so it was a comfort that a BB swim can start at half way or at Shelly if your skills are not sufficient to go out in such surf. The early swimmers did a huddle and then set off through the waves. The BB swim is a swim we choose to do. No water safety is provided or arranged so you should decide what to do based on your own skill. There is always the comfort of asking the early swimmers what it was like and also for advice from other swimmers who have skills at determining the conditions from the shore or like me who have heard the announcement over the tannoy. When you are out in the sea, it is always a comfort to see a pink cap also out and about. I appreciate it that people share their knowledge and also keep an eye out for others. I think it is a feature of swimmers who are smart – because they swim. Good to reflect on this as we have now passed the 10th anniversary of BB.

Here are some lovely men of the BB

Welcome back Alanna – with Sema and Dee

Simon with some newbies

Most of us are here willingly even enthusiastically. Here is a study in reluctance. You can bring a dog to the beach but if he does not want to walk up the stairs…

If you are interested in supporting/assisting this initiative by way of signing up to be a CV (Citizen Volunteer) please read on.

The SIMS (Sydney Institute of Marine Science) Project Team expect to start the preparation work in late January and in February.

Assistance could take the form of on-land prepping as well as snorkeling assistance helping the netting get secured etc. SIMS/U.NSW do however have strict compliance paperwork to be prepared/signed off on before commencing such assistance.

If you are interested in becoming a CV to help the marine regeneration initiative could you please send your full name, mobile number and email to Dorset Sutton (Project Sponsor) at suttondorset@gmail.com.

Dorset will forward you by email the paperwork required to be completed. At this stage actual prep/dive dates are not know, but we are interested in seeing how many potential CV’s we’ll have.

Forms will also be available at B&B Board each morning at our swim.  See Dorset at the swim.

Ahh Elizabeth is back blogging on a Friday and all is right with the world. Alanna! So sorry I missed you. Hope your swim wasn’t a once off. Poor Jen, taking it on the chin.
Thanks Ms Stewart for your swimming wisdom.

    another great blog Elizabeth.
I didn’t get the chance to comment on 10th Anniversary day yesterday – so: –
it has been a wonderous thing to see how this little swim that was started by Julie has created so much enjoyment on many levels for so many people from near and far!
By the way, if ever visiting the Watsons Bay pub, look in the bar for Julie’s name on the honour board for the swim from Bondi.
THANKS TO ALL HELPERS who put in much time and effort both visible and invisible to us swimmers.
The blogging and web pages produced are amazing!
after 3 mths of wetsuiting, I am now swimming semi-nude again; that’s the reason why the blueys have appeared. don’t tell Jenn.
