Friday 27 July 2018 The changing of the seasons

27/07/20183

People say you cannot notice the changing of the seasons in Sydney. If you swim in the ocean, you can. Here we are approaching the last month of winter with its calm seas, dropping water temps and an increasing number of swimmers hitting 20 swims for their badge.

But lots enjoying the swim and the chance for an enjoyable cold shower in public

WOW

Happy  birthday Zoe – third from the right. What a great way to celebrate your birthday. I think she may be a triathleter with this wetsuit

Memorial service

Our lovely fellow swimmer Greg passed away recently. He will greatly missed.

Greg MacDonaugh service is to be 2-4 pm Skiff club 9th August

Monthly Dinner – 14th August 2018 – Guest Speaker

The next B&B monthly dinner for the year will be held on Tuesday 14th August at 6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant. Our guest speaker on the night will be B&B swimmer, Brendan Maher. Brendan, who describes himself as a very average swimmer, managed to overcome a chronic shoulder injury and swim the English Channel in July 2017. He will speak of his motivation, training for the swim, and what it’s like for the average swimmer to attempt a marathon swim. This talk will be an inspiration to all of us who count ourselves in the ‘B Team’ (or even the Zeds!).

The cost of the dinner is great value at only $25 a head, which includes shared entrees, and a selection of mains to choose from (including a vegetarian option). Glasses of beer or wine and desserts are also available at the special price of only $5 each. Numbers are limited, so bookings are essential:  To avoid disappointment and secure your spot please book HERE.

What I have been reading

The Nowhere Child. About an abducted girl who is raised in Australia then tracked down 30 years later by her brother . Good read

also reading Victoria The Queen. A lively book about a well known queen. It really brings the time to life. Good reading.

Lovely blog as usual Elizabeth. Your daughter is very talented, love the turtle. Thanks for mentioning Greg’s memorial service on 9th August. We will have a special swim for him too, details still to be decided…
