Friday 27 April 2018 YTWL

27/04/20184

I know what you are thinking – what is YTWL? is it an up to date abbreviation used by all the youth that your blogger will reveal? No.

It is a good stretch sequence (says google).

One of the most important things about B.B. is swimming. I am  on a quest to improve my swimming. This week I learned that flexibility in the shoulders is important and found the ytwl stretches.

I have been doing them for a day and was looking for some improvement today. I did not ask Garmin because sometimes I feel really powerful and fast and Garmin says no.

Other swimmers already do their own stretches because they knew without being told by google. Each at our own pace.

It was cloudy today but warm in the water. The trick to autumn/winter swimming  is not to get too warm on your way to Manly otherwise the contrast with the water is too great. Today it was a toasty 21

Here we are arriving

My go-to swimmers for the blog

The A team at the tree

Frank

WOW

The new towel

Brand new wetsuit is ON and not coming off until spring

Early swimmers

Aren’t swimmers good looking! Makes the blogger’s job easy

Look at the sun shining on Cabbage Tree Bay

The wobby I saw

Lots of yellow tail chasing the fricking jelly fish which stung a bit but not a lot. Be gone stingers

Elaine went fish sighting with these Babe Watch swimmers but did not see the yellow tail swarm.

What I have been reading

I finished The Circle by Dave Eggers which was very affecting. Made me think twice about the information that I make available about myself on social media. This week I am reading The Burning Room by Michael Connelly. Pretty great

Management notices

290 swimmers today

6 newbies

21.0 degrees temp

Next BB dinner

The next dinner scheduled for Tuesday 8th May is brought to us by one of our very own Dr Penny Berents and is described below.  Please book soon to avoid disappointment.

‘What lives at the bottom of the ocean at 3000 metres depth in the Great Australian Bight?’

Dr Penny Berents spent a month at sea last year to answer this question. Penny will talk about life at sea on a research ship and the weird and wonderful animals discovered on the voyage.

Please book early using http://www.boldandbeautifulmanly.com.au/bb-bluewater-monthly-dinner.html

Elizabeth- I love reading your blogs…I did miss the swim today as i took the snooze option….
As we all start our preparations for the cooler water temps I think of the swimmers in the northern hemisphere & hear them scoff at our brrr! temps here….. it’s what you get used to & it’s all relative !!
For an interesting read to warm you up in preparation for our winter swims try
