Friday 23 September 2016 – Traditions old, new and invented

September 23, 20165

My daughter Ruby finished school yesterday forever. With all the activity it made me think of the traditions we have or make whether to observe or to rebel against. It gives us some structure. In BB we have developed traditions on the temp checking and badge ceremony etc. Very dear to me.

A lovely day for a swim today. A strong offshore breeze hitting Queenscliff but calm at our end.

I was very glad to see Jenn today, a Friday

Mark and Richard posed with the temp board

Emma was hiding from me or palying peek-a-boo

encounters with the early swimmers

This lot did a triple bolderdash and not even sweating

The most excellent Robin and Sam

Have a great day everyone. What a way to start – with an ocean swim

Staying safe

There may not be any waves just at the moment, but are you prepared for their return? Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly!  While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits.  Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf.  To read, or even download, click here.

    Great photos Elizabeth!
Speaking of traditions, I’m keen to get the 6:20 slow boulderdash back up and running. Management confirmed that official boulder season won’t start until November. However, i have it on good authority that they’ll turn a blind eye if we start earlier and tick a double instead.

My nephew-in-law (pic #8, in between a somewhat sinister looking Richard L and the always avuncular R Harvey esq) has been here on a week’s holiday from Victoria and has swum 5 days in a row. Hooked! Doesn’t want to go home…another convert to BnB. Bwaahaaaha!
Thanks for capturing him, so to speak, Elizabeth

    Elizabeth,
that’s a big day for anyone: finishing school!
    – but as a student, I found the strangest feeling came after the last exam with the continuing feeling of needing to study something but not needing to keep studying.
An excellent array of pictures, Ian-the-slower
