So my photos today are on land or from a distance – like a surveillance oeprative – because there was a powerful surf, big rip in the corner, occasional big sets, several board riders in the area where I would usually swim, and blue bottles.
But the temperature was 18.9
Ger Devin from Wicklow recently copied Brendan Maher and swam the Catalina Channel and went through a really warm patch which was whale pee. I dont know where our Guy took the temperature today but I think I will never know why it is suddenly 18.9

Some great close up shots Elizabeth and that comment about whale pee made me laugh.sorry I missed conditions report. We’re on the soggy North coast!

I love your blogs Elizabeth! (Whoops, missed typing the “l” the first time I wrote “blogs” :)!) This one gave us all a chuckle. I swam after dropping a year 12 to an afternoon exam, and yes, it was a rough old swim. I don’t know that I can remember swimming through so much big chop. Not a lot to see, although a fish did swim VERY close to my face (I think looking to eat something floating on the surface) and then I think saw me and got a fright. There was a cormorant showing how it’s done in the shallows though – extremely impressive.
