One mystery – we don’t know a lot about the ocean which covers almost 3/4 of the earth because it is very deep in parts and the pressure on us would be too great to just dive down there. As usual, there are some great humans – scientists – investigating the mysteries of the deep ocean so that the rest of us can know a bit more. Here is a photo of a tube worm found only in the deep sea and they are 6-8 feet long/tall.
I am glad we can investigate one little corner of the ocean by swimming with BB. It holds enough stuff to keep us interested and motivated to come on down for a swim. This lot were so excited at the prospect of swimming in the rain they did a little dance at the end of boot camp
this lot started at 6.06 according to Mike so they were finished by 630 or so.

Torben is our newbie for today.
The mural on the door has a new lifesaver on it but he looks a bit tired
Contemplating the mystery of a swim with rain coming down
Encoutners with early swimmers
A query – am I second. No. Lots of people already getting dressed (possibly having started at different times )
There is always a little bit of wave at about 7 am
Me and others at the point. John?
At Shelly. Whose birthday is it today?
Mary’s birthday !!!! HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARY
Torben enjoyed his swim
I miss the Olympics because while it was on the mute TV in our work reception often had images of a pool and swimming to glance at. Even though that is not as good as having a swim myself, it was nice. What I am reading: this week I read “Our Souls at Night” by Kent Haruf. It is a particularly beautiful book that I like very much even though it was quite sad.
And now a phantastic photo by Mustafa Karaaslan from the H2O website
Swim equipment
The things that can help improve your swimming are not all whacky. What about drag shorts.
The idea is that the mesh fabric slows you down a bit so you have to work harder. I am steering clear of these at this stage in my development. Just quietly, the same effect can be achieved by me if I don’t wear swimmers at all. I always thought Lycra swimmers deterirorated because of chlorine or salt water damage. NO. the lycra hs so much work to do holding everything in it just fails after a while.

B&B monthly dinner: Tuesday 13th September
6.30 pm at Bluewater Restaurant
Guest speaker is Jude Furniss (Founder of Bommie Australia and President of Surfrider Foundation Manly)
Jude will present the film “My Saltwater Sanctuary” including footage from Cabbage Tree Bay, which was declared an Aquatic Reserve in 2002. We all witness daily the stunning success story of how protection over the last ten years has replenished the marine populations here.
NSW currently only has 7 % of its coastline protected in twenty marine sanctuaries, so Surfrider Foundation has joined the Nature Conservation Council in the charge to lobby government to restore the ten sanctuary zones still unprotected, and increase the percentage of marine park areas in NSW by establishing a Sydney Marine Park.
Made by producers Bluebottle Films, it’s a beautiful film about locals living alongside marine reserves … and the difference every one of us can make in the protection of them.

Lovely blog Elizabeth. Such a nice swim today – calm seas and reduced visibility but we were still able to see Shelley the turtle! Great happy snaps

Hi Gang,
Someone left their B&B bag along with all their clobber on the wall. I picked it up after my 930am cruise. There was no one in the water and all the 930am crew were leaving along with the cafe. You can contact the Pirate on 0499 647 078 for the bag. Alex.
PS Regular flat white with 1 sugar if you are wondering.
