The rain keeps many away and cosily tucked-up in bed today …
Batman Begins: Mark gets ready for a lamplit swim in the dark
—
Oops. Fifi has one curl still to tuck …
—
“Why aren’t you using the App?!” JK starts taking names …
—
Booty Time: After a long wait in the dark, Storchy begins with just two starters: Jo and Krista. They use the sheltered bench at the beginning.
—
Manly Beach Running Club is out there somewhere, and slogging wet concrete in the dark. When raining training ends (still in near-darkness) they group up to strike a pose – choreographed by their leader. (You know … that guy who has 12 girls – and only one bloke – in his running group. This may be where Lainey is sourcing her women for the Dating Service)
—
Suddenly, a surge in numbers circa 6.20 a.m…
—
Finally some light creeps in and decent photos are to be had. This hot tip comes in: “If using Blu-Tac, do not push it in too far,” John advises. Jim and I want to know how long Blu-Tac lasts? “You can just keep on using it.” Which leads us to imagine an ugly conglomerate of Tac, wax and hair.
—
Panda looks to sea, yearning for the return of King Neptune. Although; he yearns in comfort – in a beaut possie (other side of that little barrier which bars plebs from the Surf Club’s front bench). It’s not what you know; it’s who etc
—
Although it’s a bleak morning, the air is mild and sea is (of course) still warm …
… but some piking wimps are already bringing hot water to our shores.
—
After their run, Lainey (horizontal bar of ‘L’) and Page (right-hand upright in ‘M’) have an intense half-hour discussion at the shower-side bench. They may be planning an incident for some unsuspecting bachelor …
—
Swimming with the Fish: Brad’s cousin Nick is visiting from home city Johannesburg. He’s over here with a rugby union school team …
—
My Three Sons: Only occasionally does this whole family (originally from the Hunter) manage to get a swim in together. Tim, Dave, Rob and Ant.
—
By 8 a.m. it’s gone dark and rainy again. JK is brollying his coat-hangered city kit back to change rooms, and Rapid Brad is dodging rain drops. Our swimmers don’t like getting wet.

Good work Roger. (Even though that is the worst photo I’ve ever seen of myself and I did get a text from Lesbubbles saying, ‘Don’t read blog!’)
I’m surprised how few swimmers there were today because the ocean was the best place to be. Merrilee’s talk at the dinner will be fascinating. She really knows her stuff and is a lovely, inspiring lady. Get tickets quick!

It’s Elizabeth Stewart’s 1000 km tomorrow. She is one of our most determined, brave and dedicated swimmers. Please help make an arch for her to go under post-swim at 7.40am.

Had she decided what she’s going to wear with the sash? Tiara or pimp cane?
Nice work Roger. Happy Birthday LSA!
