Friday 18 August 2017 Stay Woke

18/08/20177

Every generation has its own lingo and it is a matter that fascinates me. It means to be “self-aware, questioning the dominant paradigm and striving for something better.”

We are all WOKE because we are swimming.

And if we were not, on the old paradigm[;] the temp would have us woke by the time we have taken some steps into the water

Thanks Elizabeth as ever. I even vaguely looked human in that pic and posted it on to our Balance Tri Web club page so look out you could be getting paparazzi requests.

I’m all for subverting the dominant paradigm, but do the young folk of today have to butcher the rules of grammar in the process? ‘Stay woke’… I ask you. Does this transgressive imperative encourage you to question your somnolence? Only in a way that makes me wake up and scream ‘stop saying daft things you crazy kids’. And Elizabeth, you’re enabling them!

I saw you rushing around this morning Elizabeth as you had a big day at work but still blogged for us and took lovely photos. Thank you 🙂 The coldest morning so far this year but what a treat Grey Nurse shark, Wobbies, Pjs and huge ray!

So true, Shelley. What is it with today’s youth and language? It was so different when we were young and groovy.
