Friday 17th: Somewhere it’s snowing like billy-oh

17/07/201523

I can’t sleep.  Wind is whistling through the trees outside.  The cat’s snoring.  And I don’t want to get up for a pee.  First thwacks of fat raindrops at 4.50 a.m.  By 6.20 a.m, Booty Camp is into today’s plan: working on the butt.

While at the Management Palm, dawn devotees are bowing to the Holy Saint of Bolderdashdom

Yes – Once again, Kendall, Richard, Antonio (Where’s the velodrome?), Ken and Sam are off to Queenscliff.

Finally, some light for the photos …

Congrats (again) to our latest 1000 km achievers last Saturday … Ian and Sterlo

Revisiting The PM from ten days ago …

Did you know you can enter the website and change your ID photo?  These people have all been doing it …

Out and proud: Bob is yet another to graduate from Annie Sophia’s style classes …

But Ian stops laughing when he sees the temp.

Today’s chill is making it very difficult to warm up after a swim.  Bonjour, Gaetan?  “Non.  Eet’s badjour,” he shivers.

Suddenly Alex goes punch-crazy, swinging at the sea.  “I’m just trying to warm up,” says he.

Sergio Leone gone nuts – The Good, the Bad and the Ugly last week …

I finally got proof last weekend, that Bill McCaffeine actually does an occasional swim

Thanks to Shaun Denton and Liz Ecks for organising the great talk by ex-detective Dave Walton on Tuesday night.  Here, his good friend Matt Hayes does the introduction …

Fifi‘s latest glorious pre-dawn photo – from yesterday [Click any image to expand].  She shoots as she paints; creatively.  Here Fifi has switched to an above-water shot; stayed above the waist, and swopped to a male model – Alex

For the Newbies: Map of starting area layout … Swim safely – by staying away from most of these zones

Sans-Togs Update
Just the other day, David let me know that the recent Nude Solstice swim was – and I quote – “the happiest day of my life”.
But why?  “I can’t explain it,” he shrugs.  His wife then added that he’d actually practised for it – wearing his Speedos around his neck, about their home.  Naturally, David is excited about the next two swims coming up.

A-Team Up Close (Series)

Dave Panton grew up in Brighton, Melbourne, and competed as a teenager.  He swam for the school, State titles and Nationals.  Best time back then, for 50 metres?  “25.5 seconds.”  (Or; 0.5 faster than JP.)  He often hangs out with Sterlo, but they are not seeing each other.

Speaking of JP, have a look at this Point photo.  As a lone swimmer returns to Manly, his water is calm.  JP, however, is cutting a trough – as he punches into the surface.  I watched three A-Teamers race by, and was amazed at the stroke rate.  I don’t know how they manage to get any air.

Jono today, at 6.50 a.m.  I think he just got up.

Nick and Yuri … looking toasty

Personal message follows:

Coolum Hyatt Resort
A disgruntled group of property owners are lobbying Clive Palmer to sell his share of this Sunshine Coast resort.  If you have ever been a fan of the Coolum Hyatt, please consider signing this petition.  Listed below are some of the repercussions due him having taken control of the resort two years ago

• About 650 loyal employees (many there for over 25 years) have lost their jobs
• Local business has suffered
• The PGA event has been lost
• The once multi-award-winning site has been made a mockery
• Owners of property on the Resort had been locked out until now
• Their properties have been deteriorating from lack of maintenance
• The Resort is closed

Excellent blog. I encountered about thirty jimbles coming in today. Thank you to the nice swimmer (green cap under his pink one) who asked if I was ok. I was trying to swim without putting my head in the water and seeing the jimbles aggressively swim towards me. There was a trough of water around me for sure Roger. Just not really moving forward. Die jimbles die

    BandB word on the street is;
Apparently, after “touching up” our JimbleD on the solstice swim, Apparantly,
They don’t talk to him and have not called him since.
Just another reason to dislike those nasty jimbles.

and when the day seemed to be ruined by the rain and the cold wind, two dolphins at the wharf this morning, frolicking with the ferry’s wake just a couple of meters away.
