It is hard to break bad habits but easier to start and keep a good habit. Swimming with the BB is my best good habit. It did not matter that there were lashings of wind and rain last night, I still got up to have my swim. And it was lovely.
The boot camp training was still on:
Even a newbie came to swim:
Brought by friends
And the unstoppable Robin was there. He led the group in the first 6km I swam. Very kind because with my speed, he spent a lot of it treading water and waiting. But he did wait. Very generous.
The crowd this morning
Thanks to Roger’s astute observation, I was able to record how Sterling was dressed to travel to the swim.
John Masters – the concept maker behind the Pacific Challenge
The temp was 21.8, I think
Early swimmers getting back:
And at Shelly, finally. Slow swimming isquite noticeable with such a small group but kindly, swimmer waitedfor me to arrive and then take photos. Yes, they do look a little blue
i got two of the doublers today. Good conditions for it
Elaine and Peta were not tired out by the swim so did some push ups on the beach while dolphins swam in the waves
Havea good day all
Summer Badges
There are now three badges available for those swimming in summer:
# 1: Saturday 5 December kicked off the 6 km summer badge swims. These are on everySaturday during summer.
# 2: There is one 10 km swim in December, February and March 2015/16. The first 10 km swim was on Saturday 12 December. Watch the blog for details of the second 10 km swim, to be held in February.
# 3: Our new badge, the Shelly Triple, involves a triple lap of Cabbage Tree Bay (i.e. swim to Shelly Beach and back to The Point three times – total 3.5 km). This swim can be completed any day and should be logged on the i-log system. Since this is designed for those who are unable (or unwilling) to do the longer swims, this badge is only available to those who haven’t completed a 6 km or 10 km swim during the season.
Remember that there are no badges for scaring yourself silly! While it is great to extend your boundaries, it is important to know your limits. Also, if you have a bit more experience, keep an eye out for new swimmers who might need company. Do read these excellent tips on staying safe in the surf. To read, or even download, click here.

A very enjoyable blog, thanks! Almost wish I had gotten out of my warm bed and braved the rain, but, I had had enough of the wet after last night at St G open air theatre. Well done to this morning’s swimmers! And big congrats to Rusty who did a double to crack the top 10 on the PC.

Great blog Elizabeth. Very enjoyable. Lesbubbs at her bombing best but that one with Sterls looks positively creepy – like an alien attached to his neck siamese twinish. Love the idea of the good habits. Sorry I missed the swim but was down later and conditions were still superb
