Friday 12th: Welcome back, Julie Isbill!

Bluewater Tuesday night: and three swimmers accepted their 500K Badges.  SLR Photos: Ian McKnight.

Annie gets her guns …

Interim Management One – Badges Memo:  “There are 12 eligible to pick up the 500 K.  Henrietta picked hers up today.  I am also carrying them around with me, if they want to get them.  Jalna and Sue also legit to receive the 1000 K Badge.
Please note:  I do not carry whale badges on my person – only to reduce the risk of B and B muggings.  It’s dog-eat-dog out there and I’m scared.  Please people, pick up your badges.”

– Shaun Denton

Above: The exclusive Whale Badge.  Those 49 pink dots represent the 49 lucky swimmers who got to experience that magnificent swim with this wonderful whale on 24th July, 2012.

Also presented on the night was the replacement windcheater, complete with all Sparkles’ well-earned badges.  Its badges’ needlework is exemplary … someone’s a gun sewer.  Thanks to those making this surprise possible  🙂

Henrietta 500

Thank you Annie – for the big effort you made on the night!

Interim Management Two: Man down!  Simon’s man-cold sees him currently out of action.  Like several incapacitated addicts in the past, he still comes down to loiter …

Pacific FIFO: Jules is here – for two days only.  Julie (who started this Bold and Beautiful swim group) lives in WA, after being posted to Freemantle for her medical degree.  “It was my fourth choice,” she says.  “I cried for three weeks.”  Her main opinion about the Bolds these days is that – despite its size and popularity, it remains so big-heartedly inclusive and welcoming to one and all.

Pre-newbie Newbie: I met Julia by Wilf’s bench yesterday.  She wanted to know about how to join the group, and has been procrastinating for six months now.  “I only do breaststroke.”  She pledged to Newbie-Up today … please welcome her everyone.  (A handshake only will suffice, thank you Spaniard)

River Monsters: It’s a late-night fishing show with a gruesome difference, and Wednesday night they aired a “Best of …” hour, which summarised some of the savage injuries suffered by people along the wild rivers of this planet.

John Storch exasperates about weird people paying coffee prices for just a teabag …

Tim the Bishop (right) mentally constructing his Jimbles Report yesterday …

Peter Anthony (with Ree) pulled out of Queenscliff at halfway point yesterday, after repeatedly hooking left into the breakers.  It wasn’t until back at the Club he realised that only one ear had been tucked inside his cap.

Pete says I shouldn’t be getting photos from the day before.  Can’t help myself.  Today starts here.  Beautiful flat, clear water.  Not too cold.

This morning I dreamt I was trying to get a fat, black funnel-web spider out of a lady’s car.  Woke up late, at 6.40 a.m.  Lesley decided to stay in bed*.  By 6.55 – at Club –  I meet the first victim.  Nicky, who’s been well and truly belted the length of both fore-arms.  Her windcheater says: “It was written in the stars”.  (*Different houses)

Jo got belted badly two weeks ago, and still has an open wound across the ankle …

Cone-heads loading up: It’s a good morning to be pulling your caps as low as possible.  Caroline has a crack …

The 7 a.m. group down-ramp in fear …

… as 6.30 Suzanne is up-ramping …

Whay isn’t the Warringah Triathlon Club getting any faster?  Jacinda, Chris (today’s baker) and Kathryn

Little Hong Kong Sarah is back for three weeks.  And ecstatic to be here with us   🙂

Management sends the mob north, along the beach.  Consistent Bolderdashers Richard and Roberto are coming back from Queenscliff, when: “We looked up, to see this mass of people swimming straight at us!  Never seen that before.”

Jeff 500‘s cake party.  Jill, Gayle, Jeff, Ian and John.  Avid blogger Ian McKnight has a message: “From Ed‘s son Harrison – Dad’s operation went well, from the surgeon’s point of view.  Ten-hours operation.  He has good colour.   They may try and wake him today.”

The Sunny Benches are still a little wet, but there’s been no rain this morning … the usual suspects gather

Anna organises a Julie shot: Lainey, Leisa, Julie Isbill, Bev, Anna and Libby

The girls are in da hood … quirky Louise and ultra-fit Lainey

Jeff tells Derek about his celebratory cakes … Whose ear is that?

Jim‘s non-Bolds friend Belinda found a baby leopard

This puppy Chloe is so cute!

Lesbubbles has the last word:

As you may know, The Spaniard was taken out – by jimbles – yesterday, and left the water at Shelly.

This week, large squadrons of jimbles have been launching from the holding pipe by pool at halfway point.  This morning at 1000 hours, there was a war meeting in the jimbles bunker room, beneath pool’s pumping station.

Thanks for blogging Roger. Very inclusive with your usual class. Well done.
So good to see the boss back and her trusty sidekick swimming legend.
A big thank you to Cynthia again for sewing the badges on to Sparksy’s hoody.
Thank you again to Drinky for funding the hoodie and Julie for helping us out with the badges.
Also thank you to all the other people who offered, (Midge, LSA, Brenton) but we only had to replace one hoodie.
What a great bunch of thoughtful people we swim with.
Thank you to the boss and the original’s, for setting up the culture of inclusiveness in the bandb.
Legends! That includes you too Jalna, in case you were wondering. 🙂

    Clarifying facts about my accident.
Last Tuesday week I was on my way to a lunch at Moore Park, (of course no alcohol!) when I was T-boned by a van and then pushed into a telegraph pole.
No injuries to anyone amazingly, but my car is a write off.
Two days later my kid’s grandma died at 103. I have known her nearly all my life, so it was distressing for all.
Last weekend I took a weak relaxant which, along with delayed shock, made me unsteady on my feet, so my friend Ray took me for a check up to the hospital , which included a cat-scan, showing no head injuries.
I didn’t get to Kelly’s lunch last Sunday.
