Friday 12 July 2019 “six” appears

July 12, 20198

Well it is winter after all but I was all agog that the number 6 appeared in the temperature – it was 16.9 today. While not a comparable activity that I swam in 16.9, I note that Brianna Thompson of Brisbane yesterday completed a double crossing of the English Channel in 16 degree water. She is 17 and crossed the English Channel (just a single) last year. Wow.

Where do you find cold water to train in in Brisbane? Well done to her.

Our swim was joyful

The 630 am swimmers brought the sun up

All the fab 7am swimmers getting ready

Harriett’s first swim with BB – here on the right with the lovely people who got her to come. Good advice

Paul Karen and Emma – keenly collecting swims for badges. Like me

Finished swimming. Now to coffee

What is David up to?

Taking this shot. I think this is now the BB swim pose – like the Japanese Hi Cheezo or the Hawaiian hang loose.

Juliette with her lovely son = basking in the win of a great raffle prize from the Christmas in July event this week.

Sam swam early

Baby is getting a badge too

The shower water is still of for the shower scene

David Brown got the sunrise

Everyone had already left Shelly by the time I got there because in swimming, I am without peer

In the swim

Is there anything more lovely than seeing swimmers against the horizon

I put on my wetsuit, for the first time, for the ‘six’ swim today. Usually I start swimming in the heated pool as soon as it goes below 17.

Thank you for another lovely blog Elizabeth! “Lovely” has not been the word that has sprung to mind to describe my son this afternoon (“infuriating” seems more apt) but he was very chuffed at your description of him when he saw it.
