Everything is biting everything else…

16/07/201518

Great morning… rain has set in now, but lovely at 7am… about 80 swimmers and slightly warmer water than yesterday (though my very fashionable wetsuit material head bonnet has come back out)

Reports from 6:30am Captain Drinksy that there were pink jimbles in the bay sent most of the group north… but not the A-team…

I must admit there was a lot of swerving going on across the bay. I counted at least 8 jimbles on the way over that I had to avoid. James dominated the race back as the rest of us took it easy to avoid getting stung! And… wait for it… Sterling was in 2nd place… well done mate!

Meanwhile, Elaine came across this cuttlefish that was on the menu for all of the other fish!

And this ray vacuuming the bottom of the ocean.

Finally it was off to Bluewater which seems to be back in fashion during the winter weeks. Here is Jim sharing some wisdom with Mercedes Steve and Scrappy Scotty…

And in social news…

Local businessman Jim Stackpool is having a “business re-naming” launch in Manly next Thursday night, and Pink Cappers are most welcome

Art Hub Manly – 44 Market Lane  (between beach end of Corso and Sydney Road)

Thursday 16th July

6 p.m. – For free drinks and nibbles  (Don’t dawdle – it ends at 7.30)

“And a boring ten-minute speech,” says Jim  🙂

Drinks with Drinky:  “For just this once, start time is 7 pm – not 6.30,” says Andrew.

Friday 17th July

Havana Beach Restaurant (upstairs) – across road from Sunny Benches

I followed Roger’s tip from 26 June and headed off to Long Reef Surf post-swim this morning. My holy wetsuit just hasn’t been up to the job lately. So I will return on Saturday with my new and nicely discounted wetsuit. Just mention Bold and Beautiful. Thank you, Roger!

Oh no! I am traumatised by that cuttlefish pic. I know its the circle of life and all that but it feels like Bambi all over again or Nat Geo channel when the cute baby zebra still wobbly on its feet gets pounced on by a pack of hyenas. Speaking of a pack of hyenas …..

    question to management
did a bolderdash this morning and logged it (as it was an option on the drop down list on ilog) … so far so good, early in the day
later in the day – bolderdash 3 km has been now shown as a double 2.5 km
    welcome your thoughts

Boulderdash season commences at the end of October. Boulderdashes don’t count in winter. You have been allocated a double to reward you for all that effort.

    Water temp today was 16.8C.
You can view the daily temperature just above the photos on the attendance page if stats are not given.

    Hi Management
Fair enough … i just assumed that they were an all year thing, good to know, plus thank you for getting back to me so promptly.
    Just putting it out there.
If I did a double plus a normal Manly to Shelley return swim, on the same morning, can I log them both ?
Not that I have done this, however its worth contemplating.
    Thanks again
By the way – really enjoy BnB with winter swimming just perfect. Thank you for everything thats done behind the scenes by Management to make it all happen.

By the way there is a disturbing new mating ritual occurring at BNB lately.
Men are leaving their underpants in prospective ladies swim bags. This morning a navy pair of cotton boxers were left in my bag. I can only assume it is a type of mating-call by an interested-man? I suspect though the type of undies signifies the type of message. The ones I found were pretty old so my guess is the level of interest is low to very low??

    Hi David
Yes you can log both. Good work on all the KMs.
Great to see Ian on the job, adjusting logged swims.
Integrity police watching and on the ball. 🙂
