Every morning is stunning, rain hail or shine

04/11/201714

For the past few months I haven’t swum Cabbage Tree Bay as often as I’d like – for reasons of travel and health mainly (came back with a Northern Hemisphere lurgy). Today’s blog is a dry blog, but being at our spiritual home is still a delightful tonic for this blogger.

This morning did not deliver the blue skies and sunshine we may have hoped for but the steely sky has its own charm, invoking more of a spirit of quiet reflection. The rain mostly held off, thankfully leaving bags and their contents dry.

Here are some of the 6:30 group heading off

And a big boofy machine

We had 6 newbies today but I only captured 4 of them (the others escaped)

Chris  from the North Coast, who was on  the Costa Brava swim tour I was on in early September

Tom

Michelle

Bronte from Hobart (I hope I have matched the names to the photos, apologies if I got them mixed up)

The water is warming up, nudging 20

Some early swimmers coming back

Time for the main act, the 7am start

Buenas dias, Michael

Shaun, what’s that behind you?

We are fortunate to be surrounded by such beauty and fun

I walked to Shelley with every intention of getting there at the same time as the swimmers, but distractions…

I saw one person make an unconventional start at half way

Here’s one of our old friends

New toilet block is coming along

Playing with one of the new IOS 11 features – long exposure

The pelaton at Shelley, coffee and breakfast on their minds (just making that up, who knows really?)

The way back

Stats – 6 newbies, 300 swimmers, water temp 19.8 degrees

Enjoy the rest of your weekend folks

And now,  a word (or several) from our sponsors

Help  country kids learn how to surf!

Each Wednesday in November and Thursdays in December we are looking for volunteers to help Royal Far West’s country kids learn how to surf.  These children are from all over the state, for many of them it is their first time to Sydney and for most of them it will be the first time they have surfed! The age range is 9 years to 17 years. . The times are 4pm – 6pm once a week. If you can volunteer some afternoons in that time (it doesn’t have to be every week) please contact Anna Bowden on 89668597 or email annab@royalfarwest.org.au. A working with children check is required

Love those half-way start and Shelly pics, Anne. Thanks for your super blogs!
Do hope you get well enough soon to join us in the water!
Worth remembering that at any time, always dozens of B&Bs unable to swim because of health issues. I heard from Bob P’s wife that he’s been out of the water most of the year because of eye problems. We’re so fortunate each day we can swim….

Fabulous blog Anne! I’m sorry I missed the swim but kind of happy with my sleep in. Great photos. I love the long exposure shot – very effective!

I don’t know what that feature is but it looks great. I think the pink caps look even more lovely against skies like today. Just beautiful
