Today’s Blog – 2nd January 2026
The water was warm. Like actual warm, not “we’re pretending” it’s warm, and while the surf was huge yesterday, it was still large-ish today… and ohhhh was it FUN 😍
Big energy, great waves, maximum joy
There were One Meal swimmers everywhere 👙 strutting about with purpose and good karma, repping the chosen charity for this year’s fundraising. Looking sharp, swimming strong, doing good.

Rusty’s Pitch Report
The day after. My Cole Classic training is in disarray with these prime time wave sessions. So today we head north (it’s flat, maybe?) to the second pipe (Danny calls it the NS wall, not sure what that means). Danny, Jane, David, Simon, Ali, Jen and me. I get twitchy feet and peel off for a couple of waves, discipline Rusty! We head out deeper to get around the surfers, who float like expectant seagulls. 4 of us turn, whilst the champions head to Queenscliff and maybe Freshie. I get butterflies just looking at the foam on the Queenscliff headland. New Year’s resolution, get out the back more. A little murky but delightful. I’m heading out where the water is much deeperI save myself I’m saving you. We check out the shark boat on the homeward leg (my idea of doing a lap out there doesn’t pass the fun committee). Nice rhythm. Nice chats and vibes. Cracker way to start the day!

First FFF of 2026 🎉 and it’s Family Day!!!
Bankers and boomers proudly introducing their families to ocean salt, early mornings, and the mild chaos

Dx is officially gearing up for the Cole Classic 🏊♂️ which means swimming extra fast, doing extra metres. The training arc has begun 💪

Science, speed and glory came in the form of a newly watch function – the ‘SURF ACTIVITY’ – long longest wave length of 44m wave at 17.5 km/h 🌊

2026 is off to a cracking start 😘
Thanks for the swim and surf and coffee Team! Remember don’t let your true love run cold!
