We were met this morning by a balmy 20.6 degrees in the water, overcast but no wind, 2-3 foot of N/E swell and even so a surprisingly clean and calm swim.
With 128 eager beavers and 2 newbies, the morning was off to a cracking start.
Patrick’s last swim for a month as he heads to Switzerland to see his family for Christmas.
John Bond confirming strategies for the day.
Some more eager beavers check out the new wetsuit.
The Fab three eager to get amongst it.
A few waves at kick off made it interesting.
Simon leading the way
Ted questioning the blonde bits in my 3 day growth and Ian not being very supportive
Very calm and glassy at Shelley.
Confirmation of sensational “never regret a swim” conditions
And again
And even Lucy and bubs agree
And what a perfect way to start the day for Irish Alex with a birthday
And a pacey kickoff for the leg home.
A bit of swell offered a nice finish
And the closed beach meant we also had a few surfers in the fray
Staying deep was the answer
Ted confirming how good it was and John suggesting a double I suspect
And this morning Cindy from Mooloolaba came to see if it really was as good as she’d heard.
And a quick reminder, the Christmas Party is on tonight.
Tuesday 9th December at 6.30 pm in the Moonshine Bar (2nd Floor) at the Steyne Hotel
All the best for the rest of the day but with a start like that it will be hard to beat.
Brian.

For those who take photos how do you swim with your waterproof camera?

Hi Elizabeth,
Ian was closer to the discussion than me but she seemed very happy to have been able to be part of the legendary swim of the BBers.
Cheers

Well, the camera question was tricky this morning as I have in the past had my wetsuit so down the front of the wetsuit normally. However this morning being so balmy I just wore a wetshirt so put the wrist strap up past my elbow and slipped it into the sleeve of my shirt.
Not ideal but worked well however I will be finding an option for next time. I think the neoprene thigh or hip sleeve section a bit longer than the camera looks like the best option for me. That way it doesnt effect the arms and tucks in nicely on the outside of your thigh or hips.
Will let you know once I have tested it out.

Nice photo of Ian. Big smile. 🙂
Nice camera question V.
To the camera people, what if you only wear budgies? What then?

I wear mine satchel style. All good with a wetsuit, but a bit of shoulder rub in a cossie so I shove it down the side when I’m swimming. I’m coveting one of those snappy caribinders with the stretch cord.

Congratulations Rhonda on swimmer of the day.
Well deserved honour.
Now that your famous, you can expect Lips and the Triad queen to hover behind you when the camera is out and about.
Special points to Ian on the photo bombing today.
Ian looks to put his head up behind Gayle to get in shot.
Most people wouldn’t know but he started in shot but decided to run around for the set up, to look like a bomb. Well done. Keen.

Funny you should mention it – I did stalk Rhonda for most of her double this morning…. but the blogger was too busy playing with his beard to notice:)
As for Lips…. I was stood up yet again!

hmmm – I know what your talking about HKTQ
I have trouble trusting men as well, since being stood up.
I will not mention any names because Lips wouldn’t want me to.
