Cocoon

07/01/20158

In 1985  Ron Howard directed a movie “Cocoon,” a group of  adults discovers that a nearby swimming pool

has the power to imbue them with new strength, enhanced energy and a more youthful sense of well-being.

While the cause of their new lease on life turns out to be from another planet, it doesn’t take alien technology to reap the benefits of your neighborhood pool.

Even without the aid of mysterious otherworldly cocoons, regular swimming @ Manly with the Bold & Beautiful can offer anyone the same feeling !

Every day you can expirience the same feeling swimming with the pink caps @ Manly !

Eva thinks it’s in the water as she Hydrates before booty Camp

Booty Boss gloating at the thought of what he is going to put us thru

Gayle thinks its funny, boy is she in for a surprise..

Yesterdays Birthday girl “Nanny” as her gran-kids call her !

we call her  Jill or Jilly

sets up the newbie table

She had the best birthday dinner @ a Japanese restaurant in Manly

surrounded by her family (especially her grankids)

BTW Jill is 2 swims away from her 500k badge ! Go Jilly

Jane, Mark & the hounds about to be rejuvinated in the Alien waters in Manly,

they know how good they will feel after a swim

this is Jane after her swim    wow . . looking good Jane

Booty butts abound ……Hammy stretches before the swim

Kystyna & Stephen love taking pics while all is a buzz behind them.

smelly seaweed on the shore crossed & off to meet the rejuvinating power of the water

First time swimmer @ Manly about to feel the power

There it goes ……Rainer gets the feeling ! !  must be right above the cocoons

he know they were all moved into Cabbage Tree  Bay.

Most people think when they see the boat off manly they are “doing” the shark nets

Everybody at Shelly watch as the pods are repositioned.

This mob got a double dose  by swimming directly over the cocoons

they said it give them extra energy… who knows, worth a try !

Looking at the take off from Shelly it seems to work…

Stephen Coulter inspect some of the pods.

Some say they are  an alien “fountain of youth”

Lainey-loo takes a group to see George the groper,

but this is all we saw, until we got back to shore…

Jack does his best groper impersonation . Eastern Blue Groper

This couple were in their 90’s before before the swim !

but the magic just happens while you swim, can’t imagine what will happen when they get behind closed doors……

Quick get in the water ! reverse the ageing process.

Sharnie was in her middle 70s before her swim, but look at her now !

certainly has a good appetite.

& @ the tables, Straight from the “lad Bible” ….Dave, Bruce, Ted, Peter & Sterling

John , Ian (my photographer) & Jim

Ros keeps a low profile on her day off… almost !

Not sure what was going on here, something about lost rings being found !

I think we may read about it tomorrow in The Daily, but remember you read it here first ! !

Finally sneeked a shot of Ros

On a sad note for the ladies……. Dreamboat has “turned”

seen here chasing Ian Paul, he can’t get enough of him.

Nice blog Shelly! I like the cocoon comparison.
Tragedy regarding the innocent Dusky on the road.
I wonder what the penalty would be for this murder if the culprits were prosecuted.
Great work Huw. Impressive stats. Swimming every day plus some.
Sharney, looking good, I thought you were Wilf’s twin sister when you started swimming.
You are looking so young now.
Ian (or is it Sylvester), is that the start of a halo you captured in the Jack photo?

  • Nah , Just a reflection off something shiny I guess !
Very sad on the dusky front, no wonder they have been hard to find ! Hope the parents don’t take it out on the swimmers…. Looks like a job for shark lady & boy wonder !

Brilliant blog Shelly. As soon as I saw the heading I thought of the movie and 100% agreed on the comparison. Terrible about the fishing

On my first loop walking from Manly, through the Estate and back via Shelly I spotted two guys fishing from the beach – this was around 5.30am. Spoke to a lady and she went and talked to them. On my second loop they had gone. One of the guys was in a big black hi-lux with those tubes for holding things in on the front and was parked in the small space at Shelly Beach near the “electrical” thingo. They looked very suspicious as they were always looking around behind them – maybe the Manly garbage guys arriving scared them off.
