Clear Carnival Condition Cruise

Alright, put your hand up… who forgot we were starting at Shelley Beach today? Yep, me too.

Good to see Management ensuring the nippers surf carnival had plenty of room to get underway by blocking the ramp for any cheeky B&B swimmers.

So around to Shelley we go. What stunning conditions. The water is as clear as I can remember in my years of swimming ‘the bay’. I almost ran into a turtle. I hope he doesn’t leave a comment about being run over by an A-team member…

Mike and Megan were arriving at The Bower restaurant as I walked around… Mike just became a partner at Piper Alderman Legal in the city. Congratulations! My wife (his sister) tells me he has always been good at getting out of trouble… so if you need a lawyer go see Mike.

Great to see so many swimmers doing a ‘Reverse Shelley’, which also happens to be the name of a punk band that Shaun the Builder was in, in the 1980’s.

I loved the Australia Day swim yesterday – sooooo many people! Having lived overseas for 6 years in my 20’s, there really is no place like Oz. And let’s all make sure we leave at the right time to ensure no collisions.

It was Drew from Melbourne’s annual swim today. He was up for the surf carnival and likes to come and beat the A-team. On the way back we tried to drop a gear and drop him in our wake… yeah that didn’t work. Youth beat beauty.

Finally, my swimmer of the week is Richie Rich. He lives on the beachfront and has become a wonderful part of the community! Also single… and ready to mingle… He is getting faster (from a low base) and loves a double coffee morning!
