Bumpy, Weedy, Jimbly, Brilliant!

03/09/201520

Alright it is Thursday blog time… cracking morning. Anne tells me at least 77 swimmers and 18.5 degrees in the soup… and soup it was this morning with some good swell, plenty of sea weed and the occasional jimble.

Sterling came out of the 6:30am swim bouncing around. I think he might have come in first… take that Bones (and well don Lainey Loo on an expert photo bomb)!

A highlight of the swim each morning is Rusty’s swimmers (if that is what you would call them). What will he be wearing today? What will they be made of? Can they be classified as swimmers? Which German tourist did he steal them off in Ibiza?

Well after the Spaniard decided to just wear the speedos (which he paid for with a jumble sting), it was just my brother James and I out front this morning. It all came down to a wave on the point and how close you were willing to shave over the rocks. A little peeler picked me up on the point and took me to what looked like victory… until I felt my goggles being sucked off my face… So here is a pic (from official photographer Todd – recently named best looking B&B swimmer) of me looking for my goggles while James takes the win! Somehow I actually found them in the wash…

Here is Bruce who was recently elected Junior Vice President of the Liberal Party. He’d like it to be known that if you have views that you would like him to pass on to his son… DON’T.

Finally, talking about all things Baird… did you read Julia’s moving piece about her recent health issues? Here it is… (WARNING! It does mention faith and prayer).

Our thoughts and prayers continue to be with her as she recovers and we look forward to seeing her at the swim soon!

Very funny. I’ll have you know that whose shorts were VERY fashionable in 1974.
When you all man-up and get out of your wet-suits – then we’ll talk 😉

I can’t believe the jimbles are back! 🙁
Perhaps we can lure some turtles into the lovely CTB to eat them?!

Man what a swim! – i was panicking a bit so had an early-exit at half way – those waves were strong – even though they didn’t look big from the Surf club they were coming in like a Bullet train from Japan..
John Kelly was MIA at the point… not sure what happened??

Re the second sentence – Julia’s article is a personal account of her own situation, not a self aggrandising opportunity to proselytise or evangelise. To take a cheap shot using that article is really very silly and immature. I would have expected greater respect for Julia and her situation.

Definitely not a cheap shot Ali. I think you have taken it the wrong way. Knowing Julia, I am sure she would not take offence at this benign, light hearted remark. Let’s all lighten up. This is supposed to be fun!

Why post the warning Tim? A ridiculous thing to do.

Also go back Tim’s ‘famous’ blog of 2 weeks ago and and all that followed – My guess is that Tim was light heartedly letting those uncomfortable with that side of things know before they read it..
Tim I got what you meant 🙂

I’m disgusted. As a practicing European middle-aged, speedo-wearing weirdo, I’m offended by Rusty’s swimmers and your comments Tim. I expect an apology. From both you and Rusty.

‘middle-aged’ interesting revelation about your self perception.
    Tim
great light-hearted blog, not as thought provoking as usual but great to see still controversial.
Anyone who hasn’t read Julia Baird’s piece should do so. Very, very grounding.

Time to get out the old mankinis.
Lips and I still have them from our last naturalist camp.

    Worst/best – it’s all so very subjective…
