Wednesday 3rd April –  the calmness before dawn…

Wednesday 3rd April – the calmness in the dark, before dawn breaks. Early swimmers brave the black water, the flickering lights on their goggles twinkling like fireflies in the dark… The DPI contractor checks the shark nets, the Manly Life Saving Club athletes warm up on the sand in front of the club, boards lined...

Wednesday 20 March – They’re Baaaaaack!

… and just when we thought it was safe to venture back into the water and join our new turtly amazing friends, the nor easter that is a sailors delight becomes a swimmers dread…. those pesky pretty blue translucent bubbles of pain return – lurking beyond the “impact zone” to kiss swimmers who have braved...

Wednesday 28 February – feeling blue

  Under moody skies, reflecting the sadness of the Bold & Beautiful community who have lost stalwarts Ted de Jager and Justus Potgeiter in the last week,  after a few stellar days with dolphins and turtles bringing smiles and joy,  mother nature decided that she also must mourn… sending choppy seas and lots of bluebottles…...

Wednesday 25th October – Weird Wednesday in the Bay!

Wednesday 25th October – seemed full of “weirdness” for some reason.  Firstly the sky was weirdly eerie – a red dawn followed by a thickening cloud stealthily slowly blanketing the city from the south, transforming the seas from calm to calamity …. Perhaps also due to the advent of “Scorpio season”  (which started on Monday)...
